What detailing products did you use?

Believe it or not, I've been very happy with Mothers products. I've used their cleaner then polish then carnuba wax. Even though the depth of the synthetic products like Zaino and others is better, I can't seem to get a smooth finish from them like I can from wax. It's also almost impossible to strip the synthetics. Mequires stuff is great as well. I've not had the best results with Zymol (but it was the Wal Mart stuff).

Anyone else want to comment on detail products?

I actually distribute for Adam's Polishes.

So most of the products I use are from Adam's.

I do however use Menzerna, P21S, Optimum, a Dewalt 849, a Porter Cable 7427, etc...

Have you ever clayed your car before?

I think the previous owner applied some kind of sealant that I can't get off with rubbing compound. I can scratch the heck out of it, though.

My current technique is to clay, then Meguires #9, then Meguires #7. I haven't sealed it, yet. I'm using a small orbital with foam pad to apply the #9. I would finish off the car, but I can't seem to get all of the fine marks out of the clear. It really doesn't look bad, but I have a jet black M3 that I got every single mark out of, without a lot of bother. It makes me think the RS6 has been sealed with something indestructable.

It might be best to take it to a professional and get it done right. I can maintain it much easier after someone else does the baseline work.

Joe,

You may need someone with a rotary and an aggressive pad to get all the fine scratches out. Its definitely possible.

I did most of the paint correction with the PC when I first got the car then hit it up again with a rotary and what a difference! 90-95% of the paint is not corrected!

When your RS is corrected it will look amazing!
