History of the RS4/RS6/S4/S6 - where can I find info?

Hi

Please can anyone tell me if there is any website/resource or if there is a thread on here that describes and shows photos of all the models (ideally RS4 and RS6), what year they came out, engine statistics, various versions over the years etc?

I know very little about the cars as you can tell! I do know about the new RS4 and have occasionally seen the older version RS6 and RS4 estate ("avant" I believe they're called?) but never seen any saloon versions of the older RS6 or older RS4. Are there any photos of the saloon version - were they produced in much smaller numbers? Are they all auto or are they normally manual?

Do a forum search for any info you're looking for... there is lots here to be found. Also, try AudiWorld. They have a model history sub site with some info and pics.:cheers:

Thanks for your reply Ben. Do you have any direct links to the model history or any other resource online? I have had a look and searched on here but can't find any results for history of the older RS4 (if it existed before 2006) nor of the older RS6. Just really trying to find out if the RS4 and RS6 came in a saloon version and had a manual gear stick. I have not heard or seen any RS6's or RS4's (older versions i.e manufactured from 1997 onwards) that are saloons - I have only seen estate/avant versions.

We'll start with the first RS car...

RS2 - Avant only. Manual only. 5cyl 20V 2.2 turbo. 315BHP

B6 RS4 - Avant only. Manual only. 2.7 Twin turbo 380BHP

RS6 - Avant and Saloon. Auto only. 4.2V8 Twin turbo - 450BHP

RS6 Plus - Avant only. Auto only. As above + extra 30BHP - 480BHP

B7 RS4 - Avant, Saloon and Cabriolet. Manual only. 4.2V8 FSI - 420BHP

ALL Quattro. Naturally...lol
