This is the new 10.6 degrees 3.6 liter VR6 FSI engine of the new VW passat R36.
It have 300 hp by 6.600 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 2.400-5.300 rpm and with a max rpm of 7.000.
This engine looks very different compare to the normal 3.6 VR6.
There are a lot of changes made like the intake manifolt and probably the crankchaft for a forged one.

Looks tasty.:thumb:

I take it this is the engine we are all debating about for the TT-S?

I still think the likelyhood is that the S3 engine will be used, primarily because;

it already produces about this amount of torque, it will take only a slight tweak of the processor to make it produce 300hp and finally it must at least weigh 30/40kgs lighter, all of which will aid handling.

Back to the R36, if the R32 is anything to go by it will be an amazing machine for a lot less than the similar performing 330i.

I prever the 300 hp 3.6 VR6 FSI engine over the 265 hp 2.0T FSI any time of the week, the 2.0T is to hyper for mine taste.

I see where you are coming from especially as I am experiencing that creamy power delivery from my S4. As long as they can keep the extra weight in check I wouldn't be complaining.

But it's a big if. And remember it will not be the run of the mill model but the most sporty to date and as the RS is only a rumor it might just be the only one.

There is still not much info on this new 300 hp 3.6 litre VR6 FSI engine.
The engine block of the normal 280 hp 3.6 liter VR6 FSI is cast iron with a cast crankchaft in it.
This new 300 hp 3.6 liter VR6 FSI engine have probably a forged crankchaft and hopefully a cast alloy engine block to reduce engine weight.

I woult be happy if they put it in the new TT.
"Audi TT 3.6 Quattro" have a nice ring to it, or Audi TTS.

OK, I reckon that this engine if it goes in the TT will be destined for the U.S. first and only then will it be rolled out over here. The dealer I have spoke to says there will be a FSI v6 but it will be a 3.2L with a token 5~10hp gain and better economy. If this engine go into the TT, I would still look for a S3 engine but if your right Hans and this 3.6FSi for the R36 is to use an alloy block then the weight difference between it and the 2.0T (265hp) unit wouldn't be worth measuring.

By the way he said the FSI would be introduced mid to late '07, fingers cressed.

By the way he said the FSI would be introduced mid to late '07, fingers crossed.
Most likely the introduction will be during Geneva 2007 for Europe and production start after that.
The new TT needs a ±300 hp engine ASAP.

Agreed for smoothness only a boxer is better, but from a packaging point of view the V6 is much better especially in the Golf versions. And with all the new safety laws being introduced the in-line six may dead is the smaller cars.

I6 vs V6, there isn't much in it in terms ot torque, hp numbers, reliability and efficientcy, it all comes down to packaging.

Isn't this engine already in the Q7?

No, this is the standard vr6FSi engine. The one I believe Hans is talking about is a new hi-reving, hi-powered unit made totally from alloy.

Here two pictures of the 280 hp 3.6 and 300 hp 3.6 VR6 engine.
If i take a look at them i have mine doubs if the 280 hp version is really a FSI version.
The 280 hp intake manifolt look almost exactly like the 3.2 VR6 one.
And the black 300 hp intake manifolt version is completly different.
There for i think the 280 hp don't have FSI and the 300 hp have.

You can simple remove the cable cover with VW logo. ;)
And Audi only need to make a new one, and the engine can be mounted in the new TT.

After looking at the car I'm not that impressed as an overall package. Yes the performance is there but the exterior doesn't have the sporty look that the Golf R32 has and all that metal trim in the interior dash just cheapens the look of the car as a whole. Also where is the paddles on the steering wheel for changing gear? Apart from that I reckon it will be a good drive and will be present as a Police Traffic car near you soon.:D
