Are you sitting down?

The Audi RS6 will have:

580 hp

The Audi RS6 Plus will have:

630 hp

The 5.0T be released as a :snow: Christmas gift in 2007.

The Avant will follow in 2008.

Please note that the difference between 580 and 630 hp may sound big, but the percentage is similar to the first RS6 vs. RS6 Plus.

Hummina hummina hummina.....Plus, early reports are that Audi is engineering the tranny to be able to handle much more torque, which means the eurotuners will do wonderful things with this car.

Here is my only observation regarding U.S. cost. Early reports said it would come in around the $100k mark. I just don't see how this car can be sold for less than $125k+ in the States; particulary when you consider the new R8 is debuting at $130k.

Even though the R8 is beautiful, IMHO, the RS6 is SOOOO much more car; especially when you consider it will be TT with 160 more hp. How could Audi justify selling the C6 RS6 for $30k less?

From a semi-successful guy's perspective $85k was doable, $100k is attainable, $130k+ just puts the car in the exotic class beyond my reach at this point in life. Not saying it doesn't belong there with those kinds of numbers, but a $50k jump in base price would be a shame for this Audi enthusiast.

I can't wait to see it either way.

I will give Audi my first born male if they put that motor in the R8.

let's just hope 100hp doesn't vanish before reaching the wheels!

I would be expecting at least that if not more. A efficient rwd system would lose around 70hp.

Audi always treated US like pariahs.
I'm sure the RS6 Plus will be available everywhere except here.
Well, will have to build one myself then....

Now I understand the PLUS being made the first time....to correct the problem with HEAT in the regular RS6 and to tweak the BMW fans...but the idea of a planned PLUS RS6 for the next model is down right REDICULOUS.

There's the A6, S6, RS6, RS6 Plus....marketing department on Drugs?

One RS6 with the 630 will be just fine.

E60 M5 looses 7% giving it 472hp on the wheels
580*0,07=40,6 ...that would give 540 on the wheels :wo:

100hp is more like 20% loss ...
M5 will be faster if that's true! If Audi doesn't seriously saves some weight (S6 Avant=2000kg) ...and that's not really what Audi use to do!

Actually, on all wheel drive cars, the power loss is around 20-25%.. The current RS6 puts out approx 350 hp at the wheels..

Sorry if I got it wrong, I was only using the article about the power of the 335i Coupe as my yard stick. The one it dyno-tested was reading 299hp at the rear wheels which they calculated to be producing about 360hp at the engine, that's about 17% I think. So using their formula that would put the M5 at 420hp at the rear wheels.

As one person has already said all awd cars lose 20%-25% at the wheels why would a rwd car only lose 7%.

I thought that the E60 M5 dynoed about 430rhp. The RS6 580 horsepower is great! Are there any torque figures? And any info on what type of transmission there gonna use on it?

Yeah, that's more like the figure, a bit better than I reckon judging on the performance of the 335i, maybe the M-diff makes the difference.

:nono: ...for ex: 997 Turbo produces way more than 390hp on the wheels ...but an AWD car will allways loose more power than RWD :thumb:

Audi have problems with powerlosses ...don't know if it's the torsendiff or the gearboxes that eats hp! Or maybe Audi adds some hp in marketing purposes??

Amen. Talk about 'me too' branding by Audi. Will that be S-line, S or RS, sir? Huh?!?!

I remember seeing the 335 dyno #'s in the bimmer forums. 275rhp 300rft and with a reflash there getting about 340-350rhp.

This sounds amazing. There is no way that the M5 only has a 7% drivetrain loss, most likely double that at least.

The S-line is BS marketting in my opinion. Soooo - you want the Badges of an S car and perhaps the suspension of an S car, but don't want the Power??? Huh....who are they marketting to?

It's all marketting....but I don't know who the target is....it just reduces the 'value' of an S car. And RS vs RS plus is BS......

The marketting department is running Audi.

Not the Engineers.

Why not call them ALL S cars...and make the new S car the RS car and the New RS car the RS PLUS...and the new RS Plus the RS Plus Plus - do'h like C Plus and C Plus Plus.....LOLOLOL .....no the S cars are the ones with the next biggest engine, that's better...so a base 4 line car would be the A4 (four cylinder) and the S4 would be the 6 cylnder, the RS4 would be the V8, the RS4 Plus the special V8, and the RS4 Plus Plus is the 4000 pound GOLD Model of an A series car with S line badges engraved in it.....

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhh

As one person has already said all awd cars lose 20%-25% at the wheels why would a rwd car only lose 7%.

looking at other cars which produce around 300 hp, all have acceleration values similar to 335i, some even better.

so i believe that 335i is exactly 306 hp and loses much less at the wheels than a M car. this is logical and possible.
