The Lambo is a great car, but with those close figures between them...I think I would go for the Porsche:incar: .

Cheers,

Javier

Not real automatic,it's E-gear ,still a manual, only faster then regular manual.

You could reverse this argument and say that the 997TT tiptronic is actually quicker than a manual. Yeah as a moral victory, the Porsche wins it for me too. And I know this means little at these prices, but look how much more efficient the Porsche is with the same performance as the Lambo.:mech: There's something to be said for a small engine with turbos.

None of the above are real tests, these are just short drive previews and quote acceleration times as mfr estimates.

Amazing what that new Turbo can do. A sensible daily supercar.

Alltough Lambo' is ''one of ours'' and belong to same family, I am very happy to see Porsche, once again, proving it's best value for money and best ''super car'' on the market...

QUESTION:

Can somebody ''put some light'' on E-gear for me...?

Is that some ''improved'' variation of Tiptronic or is it something else?

Also, I would like to now is R-tronic gearbox from R8 basedon E-gear or...???

THANKS !

Andy,

E-gear is similar to the system used by Ferrari for their so-called F1 transmission. Is it's basically a manual gearbox that changes gears automatically by way of paddles. The R-Tronic is a up-rated version of this gearbox.

So, basicly, its manuall with ''robotised'' gear changes, like, as you said Ferraris ''F1'' and BMWs SMG...

What are performance diferences between Lambo's with and without this transmision?

Good question! I haven't had the chance yet to find out (first race with it was rolling start ala NASCAR style). Bryan has standing starts in his races, and since it has an onboard computer, I'll have him save the data from his next race (28th/29th of this month) and report.:0:

Back OT, the Lambo is definately the sexier of the two although I'd agree with everyone on the Porsche being the "moral" winner.

As a lambo man
I would choose the Lambo besides I just saw that with a fully manual gear box
this car can be faster:
0-60MPH/100KMH 3.3 sec
0-100MPH/160KPH 7.3 sec
0-125MPH/200KMH 9.6 sec
0-200MPH/300KPH arround the 27 sec
Top speed over 212MPH/340KPH
Thought this car has a few problems:
it is much more expencive than the porsche
In fact it is seriously expencive (but still cheaper than other cars in it's class such as the pagani zonda or the Porsche Carrera GT etc...)
Ridiculously impractical
But this car can be way faster it's just too heavy it tips the scale of just over 3600 por pounds/2000KG
But that is probebly because of all the things you get in it that you don't get in other supercars such as:
ABS
Electronic Stability
Front Seat Belt Pre-Tensioners Driver
Driver Airbag
Passenger Airbag
Front Side Airbags
Alarm
Immobiliser
Central Locking
Alloy Wheels
Metallic Paint
Electric Mirrors
Leather Seats
Power Steering
Air Conditioning
Electric Front Windows
4X4 drive

In the accelerations from (for example) 80-120km/u, 80-180, 100-160 etc etc, the Porsche slams almost every car. Especially in the higher gears.
It does 100km/u - 160km/u in 3rd gear in 3.4s and in 6th gear in 6.8s!

Top speed over 212MPH/340KPH

Could you show me the source of those acceleration times. I just can't see the LP640 do 0-200 in under 10 seconds and 0-300 at 27 sec. It just havn't been close to that in any test.

EDIT: Nice test. Hard choice there.. but I would go for the Porsche I think. There are some easy ways to get a little bit more speed in it.. or just buy a RT12 directly and leave the Lambo in the dust!

The LP640 in under 10s @200km/h and in 27s @300?? No way, that's even as fast as the much lighter Enzo Ferrari and McLaren F1 who have almost the same HP.

Agree here, unless you slap a turbo or NOS ,you are not going to see any Lambo getting these times.
