The enthusiast world has been waiting for the next Nissan Skyline for some time now, particularly American enthusiasts, who are set to get their first factory-sanctioned taste of the performance legend when it makes it into US showrooms for the first time.

Looking very close to the sensational GTR-Proto concept shown back in 2005 at the Tokyo Motor Show, the 2008 Skyline appears to be in its final stages of development, as evidenced by these KGP Photography shots of the car caught testing at the Nürburgring.

While all previous Skylines were sedan-derived, the new model will reportedly gain its own two-door architecture, which bodes well for the car from a performance standpoint.

Prevailing rumors have the car taking on a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6, itself derived from the engine in the 350Z. Power bogeys put the mill in the range of 450 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of twist. In true Skyline fashion, the car will be all-wheel-drive, with a further evolution of the GT-R’s electronic ATTESA ET-S torque-sensing system, tied into a four-wheel steering system.

All of which should be good for a 0-60 miles-per-hour time of well under 4 seconds, and a top speed somewhere on the ambitious end of 180 mph.

Interested parties might want to start inquiring with their local Nissan dealers now.Winding Road

Looking good:thumb: . I've always loved the Skyline series, however i really fear that the screw it up with this one, after all the last one(R34) really turned into a leyend with it's RB26DETT engine.

Cheers all,

Javier

Those pipes are massive! Does anyone know if it's 6 speed manual only or do they have a SMG/DSG type transmission?

All are just rumors at this point but Nissan way back said they were developing an 8 speed smg style tranny...

Now Ben, do you really think Nissan would use a transmission that had anything to do with that shitty system BMW uses :vhmmm: I DON'T THINK SO.

I also thought that until I read something about Nissan incorporating a V8 into this car. If my memory doesn't fail me it a VK series engine similar to the one found on the Titan. But like I said earlier...only rumors. The new Skyline will probably have a VQ series(V6) engine with two snails to pump out about 400hp and give european cars a run for their money...(flame on).

Anyway...on Nissan forums the GT-R35 is BIG news and the hot topic everyone talks about....

Cheers all,

Javier

It price will be the most interesting thing to do with this GTR. If like the 350Z they make a very competitive package which not only handles well but also ride well then I think they will be on to a winner, as more than just the die-hards will buy it. No weight figures as yet so talking power doesn't mean much, but it will be a lot quicker than the old one and no doubt handle even better.

I will look forward to the next AUTOCAR handling day with it in it and I for one wouldn't bet against taking the crown.

GOOD!!!

I for one (as I'm sure a lot of Nissan fans as well) want the car to stay turbo'd 6 cylinder. People are already dissapointed that it will no longer be an inline six, can you imagine the horror if it was a V8?!? Sacriledge!

As for the "SMG", I doubt it will be like the BMW one. They've been working on this for years and if it ain't up to snuff, it won't be offered.

Mixed feelings here , the resurection of a myth good thing , the exhaust pipes also good . :0:
But I don´t like the roof , maybe is the disguise , but at the end , over the rear wheel , there is something that I don´t like at all .

But is good to see it again .

I Think its V6 cause the renault nepta concept was powerd by 450 bhp 3.5L v6 from 350Z
