Just raced a R32 in my new A3 3,2 DSG and he couldnt stand a chance, man i love dsg!

A3:
Test in sport auto 02/2004
Gewicht 1602 kg
0 - 80 km/h 4,2 s
0 - 100 km/h 6,0 s
0 - 120 km/h 8,4 s
0 - 130 km/h - s
0 - 140 km/h 11,1 s
0 - 160 km/h 14,6 s
0 - 180 km/h 19,7 s
0 - 200 km/h - s

R32:
Test in sport auto 09/2006
Gewicht 1591 kg
0 - 80 km/h 4,8 s
0 - 100 km/h 6,9 s
0 - 120 km/h 9,2 s
0 - 130 km/h - s
0 - 140 km/h 12,7 s
0 - 160 km/h 16,6 s
0 - 180 km/h 22,2 s
0 - 200 km/h 30,1 s

Wonder what the 0-200 time is for the A3?

The roadtest that have been done on the new TT have all had manuals. And so far the best I have seen is 0-160km/h 15.1 s. When you compare this to the R32's time of 16.6 s, thats a full 1.5 s slower.

When you now look at what the A3 DSG's time of 14.6 s, that would meant when you do the simple maths that the TT DSG will clock a time of 13.1 s.

Now if only that was true I would be reconcidering the TT 3.2. But somehow I doubt it.

hehe somehow I also seeriously doubt that calculation ;) We were 3 ppl in the a3 and 1 in the r32, and we still kept a higher pace, adding more carlengths between the cars, felt pretty nice. :harass:

The test that was done by Sport Auto must have been a Mk5 R32 as the test was carried out in 2006.

Golf V R32, and in that case...damn...your car is fast.

In defence of R32 owners, wait untill the R36 comes out. 280bhp. ;) In Scoobie and Evo territory and nearly there with the Coxster and Gayman.

P.s Just remembered there will be no 3.6 in the MKV.

I am surprised to read that the MKV R32 is that much slower than the A3 3.2. What's the difference in drivetrain if any?

Yeah, I was told the same. Though the talk is there will be a 3.2FSi 275hp unit in a limited R32 just before the new model, think of it as a (GTI 30 big brother), does this mean late 2007, who knows.

the s3 though, +15 hp, and around 100kg(?) less weight then the a3 3,2, will kick ass. Unfortunantly it lacks the DSG?

I wonder how much extra hp a step-one tune (chip) will generate to the S3.
chip + exhaust from turbo-back ~300hp+?

Unfortunately VW have said that the R36 lump will only be available in the Passat and bigger models - not going to be in the smaller Golf - apparently its slightly too big too. Pity... a 3.6 v6 Golf would have been good! I personally prefer the IV golf R32 to the mark V. The golf GTI looks far nicer and sportier at the front than the chrome filled front of the mark V R32. Although I like the back of the R32. I think VW could have got more power out of the latest R32 too. A simple exhaust and air filter upgrade plus remap will net 270bhp (20 more than what it does standard). I also think the golf is getting bigger the newer it gets over the years. But I do like the mark IV R32. The new RS3 next year looks very nice with a turbo charged 3.2!
