The most telling thing about this TT is not the fact that it has a S-Line bodykit but the things under it. These brakes are the same as those on the Shooting Brake TT concept, but the most interesting thing is the exhausts. I know they could be only end pieces but if not the fact that they are all but identical in size and shape to RS pipes makes me think this is a beefier model than just a 3.2L.

:ttaddict:

No I wasn't meaning it was the RS model as such. I don't think that they are that far on with the TT-RS to have it seating in the car park for the whole world to see.

No what I meant was that this might be either the TT-S with it's 2.0T engine or more likely the TT with the 3.6FSi engine. Hans has talked about with engine coming to the TT for some time and it would be the logical choice to replace the old 3.2L model what with this engine already in production of the Passat State-side. The latter is the one I reckon it is because there is already talk that another TT model will possibly be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show along with the Roadster. Either way it looks like there will be a sportier model on the horizon.:jlol:

I still think Audi will not use the term RS for the top TT.
The top TT will probably called TTS.
And underneed that there can be a TT Quattro (2.0T 230 hp), a TT QS (2.0T 265-280 hp) and TT 3.6 Quattro 302 hp.
The TTS will be then the 2.5T with 350 hp IMHO.

Hans.

Leadfoot
October 3rd, 2006, 22:06
Will from what I was told the TT Quattro with the 2.0TFSi engine is on it's way to us early next year (Apr-May) and lets call it the TT QS with the S3 engine is a sure thing next year but the power is different than what I have be told (280-300hp + 310ft/lbs). The 3.6FSi I believe will replace the 3.2L model but will only have 275hp and the reason for this is the fact that the lighter 2.0TFSi engine would produce a better balance handling car and the power delivery would suit the purpose better. Without magnetic ride help the TT3.2 still feels nose heavy and to date ever test that has been carried out on both models puts the 2.0T fwd model the best. Now give it extra power and the haldex clutch at the rear (approx.70kg) the weight balance improves and you have a winning combination, the better handling and the aggressive power to match it's aggressive looks.:D

The report are that the R5 engine is as light as the current 2.0T ones so it too looks likely to be a winner.:burnout:

Actually a source told me that in the future Audi want it's A3 based model to have no bigger than 5cyl engines and the v6 will either die off before the end on the current TT or at the time when it is replaced.

How true this is, is anyone guess but to produce only one 5cyl engine for a specialist model wouldn't be very cost effective. My guess is we will see a range of 5cyl engines making their way into not only the TT/A3 but the A4/5 as well. It would be nice to hear an Audi with that engine note again.

But be in no doubt that there will be a 5cyl engine.:)

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I don't think that this is the S model of the TT. Every other S/RS Audi model has grey dials for Speed/Revs etc., this one has black dials just like every other normal Audi. I think what we have here is a S-Line package for the TT much the same a any other S-Line Audi brought as a complete model. The only difference is that this one says TT after the S on the badge on the steering wheel and the dials.

If I'm not mistaken there was talk that the TT would be offered with a range of S-Line packages that started with a bodykit+wheels through to suspension and different interiors.

What do you think Hans?

I heard that their was going to be a turbo 5 cylinder FSI engine as the top model, something close to 300hp for the TT-RS. That goes well with what was said earlier about phasing out the v6 (vr6 engine). Supposedly the TT-S will have the same engine as the S3, or something similar and the TT-RS will have a volkswagen sourced 5 cyclinder from the passat (2.5l) with FSI and turbo and Audi tuning. Again this is all from various sources on the net, and not sure if it is true. Kind of like a mini R8 or what the SLK is to the SL. The question is does Quattro have the capacity to make another model with the RS6 and RS7 coming next, and the R8 and ??R10 possibly taking up a chunk of capacity as well.

Noushy

Leadfoot
October 7th, 2006, 16:28
I heard that the VR6 engine were to be fazed out to make room for this 5 cylinder engine and various sizes. My source informed me that the TT will go like this.

1.8TFSi - 160hp FWD
2.0TFSi - 200hp FWD & 230hp Quattro (2007)
3.2VR6 - 250hp Quattro to be replaced with 3.2FSi 265/275hp (2007) #
2.0TFSi (TT-S) 300hp Quattro
and this is were it gets interesting
2.5r5TFSi (TT-RS) - 350/365hp Quattro (doors and bootlid now alloy)

# = this engine will be replaced in the future with a de-tuned TT-RS engine that will produce a lot less power but a lot flatter torque curve, but this will only happen after the TT-RS is released.

Next year will also see the diesel model based on the current 170hp 2.0TDi but tuned to produce 200hp.

Toto89
October 7th, 2006, 16:34
That's good!So we will have TTS, TTRS and a more powerful V6 as well;) But how reliable your source is?

Leadfoot
October 7th, 2006, 17:08
Well so far everything he says has happened with the R8. Only the weight is wrong but he countered this by saying that a decision was taken to produce a light-weight model. His power/performance etc. are all on the money. Now if as he says that there will eventually be a diesel R8 (375hp) does exactually happen, well then I will eat my hat. Some of the magazine say Audi management deny a diesel R8 will happen. By if it does, then I will never doubt his info.

Regarding the TT, even Hans (Iceman) will confirm the lightly-hood of the 3.2FSi and a 3.6FSi engines, but here is where we defer, I think that the 3.6FSi is for the State only but he thinks it will be the engine for the TT-S. Both are valid points and only time will see who is right, either way is all good news.:thumb:

ültje1

just one question...

when will be the S TT and the RS TT released?

Leadfoot
October 8th, 2006, 19:26
Unsure, Audi UK say the end of 2007, but there is talk that it might be shown with the roadster at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2007. If this is the case then I very much doubt it will take them the best part of a year to release it to the public. The only thing that make me believe it will be soon is that the person of Audi UK when questioned about it said the put the deposit down soon so as to make sure I would get the first one. That not the kind of talk that sounds like the model is too far away.:jlol:

The TT-RS at the very earliest will be mid to late 2008. Sorry.:0:

The S-Line packages look like they will be priced at approx £1300/1500 for the bodykit which will include 19" RS4 alloys and 10mm lowered suspension. Interior package is be another £350. This price are only a guess, so don't read into them to much.:thumb:

Gabby, yes we all know that the most of the pictures of the TT-S/RS models on this post are fake, but if you think that Audi aren't bring out a TT-S you are so far off the mark, it's untrue.:lovl: Detriot Motorshow will be the first showing of the TT-S and Frankfurt 2008 will see the TT-RS. Audi has invested heavily with new technologies to leave the TT with only a two engine set-up. Think about it, why give the TT a suspension system similar to the one in a Ferrari 599 for heaven-sake if they were only going to give the car a maximum of 250hp. The chassis can cope with so much more, possibly as much as 380~400hp, though I doubt Audi will even give a production model that much.

All mags have praised the car saying it dynamics are right on the money and in two resent German group roadtests the TT3.2 beat not only the Z4 3.0Sport but also the Porsche Cayman. The only thing I am sure of is that the VR6 engine's days are numbered for not only the TT but the A3 as well and will be replaced with a new R5 FSi engine range to complement the current 2.0TFSi engine.

I hope your true. It should be really funny. But an official of Audi France said that it will not be sport version of the TT.

A TT-S and RS is not imposible, but some people at Audi have said they will not appear.

I think two options :
1 - they are working on a new coupé, really sportier with the right platform with a middle engine, and they never made TT-S and RS
2 - they don't have new sport car and they are building S and RS TT...

I'm agree tht TT is a perfect car for R and RS derivation. Wait en see...

From what I gather, Audi are working on an B8 design that will be smaller and lighter than the TT. The R4 will be a true sports compact ala Lotus.

Guys,

I see WFC has got wind of the red TT that started this post. They claim it's the TT/RS running a 5 cylinder engine (350hp) with two turbos. Now I believe my source which states this car is nothing more than a Audi worker's car of Quattro division which have RS brakes and back exhaust pipes.

The interesting part of this piece in WFC is the 3.2L TT is to be replaced with a 3.6L from the sporty passat (R36), at the same time the TT/RS is released. Now we know that the current 3.2L needs to be replaced soon, so does this meant the RS model will be out before the end of 2007 as I doubt the 3.2L will be still in service after this date.

It sound strange... Effectively, the car is builded with many distinctive elements :
- RS brake
- new exhaust pipe
- RS seats

So... difficult to say... but a RS version should be larger, bodybuilded, non ? And usually, they don't have the right wheel but black painted stadard ones ?

Strange !

If the 5 cylinder engine have/get bi-turbo charging it will be a "Sequential Twin-Turbo" system,
because a parallel Twin-turbo system work only by a even cylinder engine.
A 5 cylinder engine only work with STT.

Tech Info:

"Sequential Twin-Turbo"

Sequential Twin-Turbo refers to a set up in which the motor can utilize only one turbocharger for lower engine speeds, and both turbochargers at higher engine speeds. During low to mid engine speeds, when available spent exhaust energy is minimal, only one turbocharger (the primary turbocharger) is active. During this period, all of the engine's exhaust energy is directed to the primary turbocharger only, lowering the boost threshold, and increasing power output at low engine speeds. Towards the end of this cycle, the secondary turbocharger is partially activated (both compressor and turbine flow) in order to pre-spool the secondary turbocharger prior to its full utilization. Once a preset engine speed or boost pressure is attained, valves controlling compressor and turbine flow through the secondary turbocharger are opened completely. At this point the engine is functioning in a full twin-turbocharger form, providing maximum power output. Sequential twin-turbocharger systems provide a way to decrease turbo lag without compromising ultimate boost output and engine power.

Yeah,

It's effect is similar to VW's TSI technology and BMW's twin-turbo diesels.

On re-looking at these picture the rear spoiler is a stick-on carbon-fibre strip. Look closely and you will see it sits proud of the rest of the boot and the lowered suspension is possibly nothing more than the standard S-Line suspension upgrade.

There is nothing in these pictures that tells me it's the so called RS model.
