WCF are reporting that the A6 will get a 2.8L v6 engine with valvelift technology. The only disappointing thing is the power output (210hp), not great for a 2.8L engine and the 280Nm of torque isn't that great either.

For full report check out WCF.

Congrats on the 1000 posts Leadfoot!.
As for the engine...come on! 210hp from a 2.8 liter V6 engine equipped with valvelift?...they can and should do better than that.

Saludos,

Javier

Engine is scheduled to start production November.

Another engine designed for emissions, flat torque curve and flexibility, rather than headline grabbing power outputs.

I'm sure the tuners will like this engine.

Read that the mileage for this is better than the previous engine, plus with a small increase in power.

It is all about RPMs, this engine makes peak power @ very low 5,500 RPM. The 3.2 liter FSI V6 makes 255 hp @ 6,500 RPM. The V8 4.2 liter FSI makes 350 hp @ 6,800 RPM. Also for comparison, the Roadjet 3.2 Valvelift engine made 300 hp @ 7,000 RPM, also most importantly, if you look at the 3.2 FSI with 255 hp, you will see that it makes only 241 horsepower @ 5,500 RPM (that is still more power per liter than this engine, 77.169 vs. 75.730, @ 5,500 RPM) Still, I think (and hope) that the 300 hp 3.2 liter V6 Valvelift engine will be available when the A5 comes out next year.
