I've watched a couple videos reviewing it. It looks pretty impressive. God help us if they only sell it as a sedan, which would personally kill any interested for me.

I've put it on my radar, but with the upcoming e-tron GT...not gonna lie, it's very difficult to see gasoline engines in the same light once one has experienced just what a high performance electric car can do.

well, it'll be an absolute bargain...and more practical...than a Porsche Sport Turismo. But the real competitor is the Mercedes E63 wagon. It'll be interesting to see how the two compare pricewise.

That being said, the RS6 Avant transcends rational and economic logic. It's something all of us have wanted at some point or another, evidenced by the fact that gutting our sedans and transplanting all of the parts into an S6 Avant shell isn't a devaluation or an eccentric decision, but an upgrade.

Cars like this are bought based on emotion alone.

I am excited but a little underwhelmed. I feel like it doesn't blow the doors off of the S6 and it will be hard to justify the price.

Well Dave, it is an Audi, so needless complexity is right up their alley!
I still want one. But I’d be more inclined to snap up one of your RS6 Avants for the $ (once I have the disposable coin that is)

Possibly a hybrid powertrain, like in latest Panamera. If that's the case, then it won't be any slower, than your S8.
Otherwise - yea, same chassis, pretty much.

    Wow, great news.

Not sure about the rear-end design, but superb car.

I have the new A6 Avant at the moment, not an RS but can't complain.

This video almost brought me to tears. The whole story it told is just awesome! The IMSA GTO cars on TV, the "Truth in 24" video he was watching with his kid, all of it was just glorious.

And yes, the 48v alternator thing is an electric motor assist allowing electric driving under 14mph, and engine off cruising up to 100mph, per the Motor Trend article.

Not crazy about this trend for matte paint but everything else is nice.

Saw this article today and thought the time lapse was pretty cool for the history of the RS6 Avant...
