The old one is belt driven and the new EA888 chain driven.
The belt is on the end of the engine and the chain is @ the flywheel side of the engine.

When talking about EA888 2.0TFSI i think the biggest change is, not that it got chain instead of belt, but that it got valvelift. There has also been a lot of other changes (internal and external friction minimization), and it feels like a totally different engine.

Unfortunently the TTS engine is not derived from EA888 2.0TFSI (211ps).

    Dear Friends,

the 2.0 TFSI (EA888) is replacing the 1.8 TFSI (EA888) as base engine in the A5 also-, starting from Model year 2009 (production >26.05.08). Main reason is the high demand for the 1.8 TFSI engine in other cars within the VW group, leading to even greater delayed delivery for the A5.

The EA888 series will replace the EA113 within 2009. It is unsure if the TTS will also be upgraded, but it is mostlikely- with a power output raised to 220KW.

220KW (300ps), now that's the kind of figure which I find interesting.

Sorry to say, but i think it's bogus to believe that the TT-S is getting 300 hp.
The EA888 2.0TFSI engine have 211 hp, with a small turbo.
To make it a 300 hp EA888 engine they have to do a lot of internal upgrades and put on a bigger turbo.
It's more likely that the TT-S EA113 engine will stay in for a while, and get replaced by something else in the future.

There is no harm in living in hope.

In any case the EA888 engine is capable of 300ps without any internal mods, at least that was what I was told some time ago, whether Audi would chose to increase the output at all if this engine ends up in the TT/S is debatable, personally I doubt they would move the output at all but who knows.

Maybe we may see the 2.0TFSi engine being dropped for something else with the potential of 300ps and possibly a sweeter exhaust note.
