I was wondering about this too.

My feeling is that maybe Audi will wait to see what the new M3 has to offer before producing a + version?

I would be surprised if Audi brought out a RS4+ just after the new M3. It would be better to see public opinion and how the normal RS4 tested aganist it first, if it handled this meeting ok than it would be silly producing this as it would only hurt the resale of the current RS4.

If the M3 hammers it, it would still be silly producing a RS4+ as there is only so much that can be achieved with the current chassis.

But it get just beaten and no more than leave it a year and bring out this 450hp RS4+.

I'm thinking the next M3 fighter will be based on the A5. A two-door vs. a two-door. There is no way the chassis that we have now will be able to compete with the V8 M3. Look for the RS5 to be the one that goes after the new M.

I heard that Audi quattro GmbH is currently proceed some study test on a new Audi B7 RS4 "Plus" version available for late 2008. It's a lightweight version of the RS4 with DSG gear box and the best... a FSI V8 4.2L engine of 480 or 500hp. The future will tell us if this research is for the current RS4 or the next B8 RS4.

My gut feeling is this is a test mule for the next RS4, but I am sure there is some on the forum more knowledgeable than me who will be able to answer these questions.

I personally would be pretty upset if they released an RS4+ a year after. Crappy thing to do to owners who just bought an RS4. Oh well, if the rumors are true...anyone want to buy a 2007 Sprint Blue RS4

Totaly agree. They should wait a bit. It would really be bad for new RS4 owners.
This time I might like the fact that I live in America... it will surely take some time before they get it here if it ever do.

I think those rumors are more about the next RS5 or even RS6 than for the RS4+ (I hope)

I'm sure that there will be a release of a rs4 +, probobly during the last year of production or so, heard of a guy who allready has pictures of the test-car.

Hopefully it will be motor-tuned, dont think we can hope for 480-500hp but 440-460 maybe and 150-200kg weight reduction would be nice, but dont think that it will be totally track-optimized but remain comfortable, so 100-150kg would be more than satisfactory.

Cheramic brakes is something the M3 CSl didn't have and what i've noticed a real pain for the bmw-fanatics.
