    RS6 Exhaust Loud vs Quiet

Ok, my RS6 is missing only one option.. the "Louder" exhasut system. Is the louder exhaust better (as far as performance goes)?

The option was actually called Sound Enhancing Exhaust.
By that statement alone, I'm inclined to think that performance-wise, there were no difference between the two.

I don't believe there was ever any data with concerns to the performance differences between the two exhausts. Thus, it must be minimal to non-existent.

I believe the change to be audible and visible only.

I believe it was tuned for better sound. It really rounds out the character for this beast. I have it and like it, but for an extra 1K for it, it can be be a tough decision.

Several random websites have posted that it gives the RS6 an extra 10 horsepower, but I don't think so. It just sounds good...so good...

Lemme guess - in a quiet bethesda/chevy chase neighborhood? Neighbors have complained about mine, especially when coming home late at night. We live at the top of a small hill, so the exhaust booms even more when going up it at a slow speed.

Sorry to hear that. And I thought Easterners appreciated classical music!

Perhaps the most satisfactory solution is to run with an exhaust system with valves in it. You can cruise along on a barely cracked throttle and make little noise, but when you bury you foot and ask for boost...... well Vogon rock concert comes to mind.

A side benefit of this system is that you can play 'music' with the throttle peddle, modulating the pitch and tone of the exhaust; if the main squeeze can sing........

I was under the impression that since the RS6 exhaust system is 50 state legal and is stock from the factory, they cant cite you for noise. Kinda like factory tint jobs.. anyone ?

You are correct, technically. That will NOT stopped an UNinformed officer from pulling you over. A man I know was pulled over for having those "fake" HID headlights on his 02 Audi!:trash:

Didn't matter that he explained to the cop that they were STOCK! He replied, "I know rice burner lights when I see em..."

Needless to say he won in court, but how does that compensate him for the time he had to take off of work to fight someone elses stupidity!?! Nice eh...
