Don't even try this in your BMW or MB...

(Before there's any discussion about it, the cable is there for safety.)

I saw this already about a week ago in German television, "Stern TV". They did a whole coverage on how they set it all up etc.

They did this because there were people claiming that no car could ever climb an angle like that it snow, and that Audi faked the quattro TV-ad from about 15 years ago where an Audi 100 quattro climbed the exact same ski-jump.

So they decided to redo the whole thing with a current A6 model, for celebration of the 25 years of quattro technology and document that it can be very well done.

I will not be supprised if they do a new TV-ad with the A6 climbing

You have to mention that the final try was made with spike tires!

    But anyway, great performance!

Well, that was quick Although I think that ad would have made an even bigger impression if they somehow compared it with the same run of the Audi 100 quattro from about 15 years ago :top:

Now I should be starting to take money for my fortune telling

There was this commercial about a Audi 100 Quattro climbing up a ski jump which was discussed a lot. There was also the rumor, that it was a fake, because of the cabel. So Audi wanted to show, that it is really possible in an Audi, and well, they did it

“Safety first” was the underlying principle for the entire project. Keeping the car in the steeply angled position at the top of the jump was the biggest challenge. As soon as it stopped there it would immediately slide back again. The A6 therefore had to be “held on to” at the top. To solve this problem, an ingenious system was fixed to the ski jump and to the bottom of the car. The “roll-back safety device” was equipped with three independent systems. It was located on a steel baseplate and weighed around 65 kilograms. This “sled” was installed to the underbody of the 335 bhp Audi A6 (1.9 tonnes) and merely served to prevent the car from sliding back; it was not able to pull it.

They had to try it three times.. the first two times the car went sideways and almost seemed to crash into the side wall. It was a really dangerous project (but Audi even did it into the news on german TV quite a good commercial I think)

Yes, the TV magazine in which they showed the report is one of the most-seen in german TV!
I guess it is well recognized now!

@itisme: läuft die werbung denn schon in deutschland??
