    Yeah thanks i know.

The M5 can do 0-200 even faster. Look at this test against the Porsche 997s

March deliveries only in Europe. The USA won't start seeing them until beginning of September at the least.

Keep in mind that car mag tests often have faster results than factory claims. This happened with the B5 S4 as well as the RS6, which posted a 4.3 for 0-60 in at least one mag (don't recall which one) vs. factory figure of 4.6.

Some say that's because automotive journalists don't own these cars & therefore drive the crap out of them in ways that neither the factory nor owners would attempt. Also, factory figures may be a bit conservative in order to keep them out of trouble; i.e. if car mag times are slower, the mfr looks bad.

Plus there are the variables: Different drivers, different tracks, different weather (temp + humidity) on test days, possibly different elevation, etc., all of which can make a difference.

    I agree with JAXRS6.

The 0-100 times listed here are 4.7. Im sure they were squeezing every milisecond out of the M5 too. 4.4 seconds sounds a little low for me, but we shall see.

I would like to see what the M5 does the Ring in vs the Porsche, rather than these straight line acceleration tests.

One of the car mags got a 4.4 for the RS6. The official time from Audi is 4.6. My personal best is 4.9, and that's only recently. Before this year (and passing 30K mi) my best was 5.1.

In that context, the new M5 may not be faster in straight line acceleration than the RS6, or not much faster. But I've read it can pull more than 1 g, which is truly impressive and significantly better than the RS6.

In overall performance the M5 no doubt will be superior. It better be; it's a newer model on a newer platform!

Still, it won't have AWD, which I like even on dry pavement cuz it enables me to merge into fast moving heavy traffic on Florida's lumpy Hwy 41 like no other vehicle.
