Hi,

I love the P-Zero's that my RS6 came with, but they are soon on their way out. I was looking to get a set of Pilot Sport II, but I was wondering if you can measure the width of the tire in centimeters or inches for me.
I got the Pilot Sport set for my 19" rims, and the 255 wide were actually narrower than my 255 P-Zero. I want to make sure that the Pilot Sport II does not conform to the same narrow design.

Enjoyed the right up. If the PS 2s come this way with the right rating & size for the beast I'll give them a try based on your report. As you said I found the P Zeros to be comfortable and well handling. The PS 1s are just as nice but would like to try the 2s

Just a reminder that in the US, PS2s are not available in 255/40 18" size with the Audi-recommended Heavy Load designation. 19s, maybe; 18s, no, as of a few weeks ago at least (according to luke@tirerack.com)

I agree P Zeros rosso is great on RS6. Had mine for 3000 km now. They work very god on track as well.

Excellent evaluation, André - thank you! Have you had a chance to drive with the Michelins in heavy rain or standing water? I'd be interested to hear how you found their wet handling capability, as some magazine reviews have criticized the Michelins for this.

I have them also and I agree one hundred percent BUT did you need spacers? I needed spacers and I am trying to findout if that is because of the wheel or the tire. I was told that the wheel was wider then the standrad wheel of that measurement.

I've bought two sets of tires from Luke & I took months to make my most recent choice; he was very patient thru numerous emails and calls, and he's very good about looking up whatever you want. In addition tirerack.com has tons of tables and data on different brands & sizes, although sometimes it's not easy to navigate. That's where Luke can help: he knows where to find the data quickly, and he knows about the Heavy Load recommendation for the RS6. If you email him he should respond with info and a phone number.

I don't mean for this to sound like a commercial. I am in no way affiliated with Tirerack; I'm just just pleased with Luke's service there.

I measured the following:

Outer shoulder to outer shoulder of the tyre (where the side wall begins):

255 mm = 10.04"

As above, to the inside beginning of the shoulder:

245 mm = 9.65"


Diametre: 650 mm = 25.6"

I did not have to put any spacers. There is less clearance than with the Dunlops, but still plenty of it.
The Audi hub which support the wheels gives the required clearance.

Must be the offset of your BBS wheells, which is less to the outside than the Audi 5 spoke 19"

If I am not mistaken the offset of the Audi wheels is 31 or 34....

No I haven't driven in the rain at all. We don't have much of that in South Africa.
When it rains, it pours, but normally it's over in a few hours.

Looking at the amount of thread and the amount of actual rubber making contact, the wet capabilities of this tyre maybe compromised, but in my conditions dry capabilities prevails.

The Goodyear F1 GS-D3, seem to have excellent ratings in the rain, and just just a little bit below the PS2's in the dry.

In all honsety this is the only area in my opinion that these tires fa short of greatness. They are all over during the rain.
