    2003 RS6 Avant on BAT.

This Japanese import showed up on BAT a few days ago.

It is local to me (Calgary, Alberta) so if anyone wants some more info I'd be happy to help out. I've seen it in person and it is in decent shape but needs some maintenance. Timing belt service is due for starters. It was recently bought from a Calgary JDM importer and the owner has only had it a few months. I don't think he realized the cost of ownership for these.

It is going to be a hard sell for interested americans because of the federalization requirements but it is a 2003 so should be fairly straight forward.

I have one as well from Japan.

Out of curiosity, what's to stop me from registering and insuring it in Canada, but driving it down through NY and keeping it in NJ?

Unless you're a Canadian Citizen or a resident, the government is not going to let you register or insure a car in this country. The border guards will also have something to say with you bringing a Canadian car into the US as a US citizen. It would be nice but don't think it is going to happen.

    A) God, the Euro seats are so friggin awesome!
    B) Do JDM cars run the same plate tub as NA? I guess I just assumed they would be ROW.
    C) You put the Conti T-belt sticker on the CF cover? That's tacky as shit!

AZEuros in Arizona has 2 USA Federalized RS6 Avants....so that one on BaT is not worth the hassle if you ask me. It's an expensive and tedious process .

I am waiting for the 2020 RS6 Avant, which also has a twin-turbo V8 and all new goodies. It will become a good stable mate to the existing sedan.

Didn't sell on BAT, now on eBay... Apparently $45k is their appraisal!

I think European based Avants are better because at least you get Recaro seats from factory. The Japanese imports seem to have the same seats as we got here in US. And I thought we were the only unfortunate ones.

Japan vehicles are ROW builds and come with Recaro seats.

The us spec seats need need to be installed for federalizations.

So yes, only in the USA do we get the dumb and dumber rules

That is awful that would need to change the seats too to federalize it. I figured new headlights with reflector and something else like charcoal canister or something to that effect to pass inspection, and most of the cost being court/paperwork costs. Hopefully they would still have the seats around...
