Paint matching efforts on Avus 03 RS6

Well the time has come to finally fix some scrapes under my front bumper on the Avus RS6. The original owner was a old fart who tried to take care of the car but well he was old. Lol

I have had this car over 10 years and from 20k miles and those scrapes have made me crazy. At least they were on the bottom side.

All I can say is this. You better find a local Glasurit paint supply store willing to make a custom blend. You have to perform a few spray out tests to get the final product but it's worth the effort esp from side 45 angles in changing light. I have done 3 "Avus" cars in the last 4 months and the final formula has been drastically different. These cars were all painted in different factories under different conditions. ESP the RS cars.

Did a Nogaro paint match as well. Same situation

    Did a Avus on a 2000 RS4 Avant. Ditto

    Thanks Randy!

zoom in on the metallic and Pearl in #2 and #3

that took some effort and time. But once you have the final formula that becomes the keeper recipe forever on that particular car.

And yes, one and all.....if you want me to make up some paint for you....I can do it. Need to jump thru some hoops but I can get you the match. I don't need the car....just the gas cap.

Heck, Stephen is sending his MTM car cross country and I'm working on it.

Multi angle photos are actually the best way. The top 2 are 45 degree angle to the parts.

i can show you the 3 or 4 spray outs we did before this one. Camera does not discriminate

now, 20 bucks for the first person that guesses what that little purple tab is at the corner of image #1 and 2

I thought all the early rs cars were assembled in a separate factory in Neckarsulm, formally Quattro gmbh.

    Yes! I was there! Lol

My reference to these cars is across the board. The generic Avus color code may as well be purple because it does not match any Avus car I have owned. S or RS

different plants, different months of the year and different years. The paint mixture changed slightly

An RS painted Avus was done totally different than an S and or TT special edition

I'm so slacking in my old age. Time to give the Avus car some attention and finally deal with the scrapes under the front bumper and get the mop n glow fresh splash under here.
