My brand new second hand RS6

Hello everyone! My name is Bill or LaserSVT. I own a small repair/service/performance shop in Waco Texas. I know I joined here a long time ago when I was thinking of getting an A6 2.7T after missing my 2001 S4 so much. Well with the start of my company and keeping it aloft for the first year had tapped me and I put it on the back burner for a few years. I then decided to wait some more and get the one I REALLY wanted, the 2003 RS6. Well that dream was realized today. I picked up a blue on black 2003 RS6 with 79k miles on it, clean carfax and a somewhat good maintenance record. I say somewhat because I dont see a timing belt record. The top place in Austin Texas that is some guru for these cars (forgot the shops name) said all the seals up front are new which indicates it probably has had it done and to get to the point to look at the belt you may as well replace it. Fortunately I have an Audi Master Tech at my disposal so I will get with him tomorrow. I drove the car 150 miles home and had three people in front of me blow out tires and I hit every damn one! So I have to inspect it tomorrow anyway.
Big bonus is I am an audio nut! Car came with Morel components front and rear as well as a pair of 6 channel McIntosh amps. Yay!

So here are some pics of my new baby the day I bought it 9/2/15.

So its been a fun few days. First ripped my front bumper in half on my driveway. Turns out it was broken there before and had a license plat JB welded behind the bumper. I stitched it but still want to replace it as the lower grill sticks out 1/8" on the driver side now. Then I discovered whoever installed the brakes put the caliper spacers on the wrong side and at 50% meat the pads backing plates were starting to rub the rotors hat. Easy fix. The fuel level sending units hat seal leaks so I have a new one on the way. Also the trans output shaft is just starting to leak so I have a new one on the way. Should be here tomorrow. It was missing a hubcap but I just installed four new ones. The center console lid was broken but found a NIB one for $13 and just installed it. The built in radar detector was broken so I also just fixed that. Other than that it has a nice car fax and I have been over every inch and she seems really really solid.

Now on to the good. Car came with way over 20k in modifications/enhancements.
Bilstein Nurburgring coil overs with dampening adjustments. Sounds like it has an aftermarket exhaust but not sure whos. I was also told it has larger sway bars. Front one is 1 3/4" so again, don'tt know. It does have a chip but not sure of brand or if the TCU was done. It does not shift until 2300 no matter how light I am on the throttle. It has the Alcon Stasis brakes in 14.5" rotor size. There is an Escort 9500ci installed with the display in the mirror. The stereo is something else and I am an audiophile. Alpine DVD/NAV deck with an outboard DSP, Morel Elate 3 way components running active, Morel Elate 2 ways n back also running active, Alpine Type R sub which will be changed for a Boston G5 this weekend and then it has TWOMcIntoshh MCC440M amplifiers. These are the big 6 channel ones and are $2600 each! Even has a backup camera.

Thank you. It was all modifications I would have done at some point anyway. The fact that it had 79k on it and was a two owner and DIRT CHEAP was just a big bonus.

This is my 3rd Audi and always loved them. Had an 01 S4 (I think 2001.5) and an 2004 A6 2.7T but wanted an RS6 for years. Now that I own a shop and have an Audi specialist on call made the purchase a no brainer.

    Milltek exhaust

It has a tune for sure

Vagcom data log 3,31,115 in turbo mode. 3rd gear 2500 to redline and post the log. This will ensure things are running well

I like the mods and the new ride. Can you post last 6 of the vin for me?

Sell me the bumper skin when you get the new one

I dont have a Vagcom only a Matco 1010Pro. Dont think it can do that.
I cant believe that the modification total on this car is at $25,800 assuming it has an APR chip.

904984 is the last of the vin.

And sure on the bumper. Dont imagine shipping is cheap.

Ross-tech.com You can confirm the tune by your boost levels. Also good to see the other data blocks mentioned such as timing. Soldered in TCU tune for better shifting is fairly common. You have to inspect the unit, under passenger carpet, to see if it's been chipped, but your higher shift points sounds like it.

    Nice find though!

Get that timing belt done as you wouldn't want catastrophic failure.

Is that really a stamped Miltek exhaust, or just flared tips?

Use Google to search, not this sites search. Type "site:rs6.com" along with your term "timing belt".

Full timing belt setup is here. Water pump, 3 pulleys and one tiny one, belt, gaskets, thermostat and tensioners. Have a couple gallons of G12 too.

Good friend is Wacos Audi tech and has all the tools so for some bucks and beer he is going to help me do it and teach me all the tricks so that next time I can borrow his tools and all the parts only run me $233. Should take a few years to hit 35k again.

In all the cars service record there is only the one done at 34,700 and nothing after that. Plan on doing it this weekend just to be safe. Also have to wait for the sending level gasket gets here by then as well as the trans output shaft seal. I may just run the tank down some more and see if one of the Porsche hat seals I have fit. Did a couple SUVs, a base an S and a turbo and they all came with extra hat seals and I think one will fir the Audi. Not like the gasket is expensive but it is special order and free is free.

Well it appears that I have fallen. 1:30AM and couldnt sleep even though I am exhausted. Go out and stare at the car and realize how dirty it is. Make a run to Walmart and buy $100 in cleaning rags and chemicals. I then spend the next 3 hours in my driveway (waiving my arms like crazy every 4 minutes to make the security lights go on) and wash and wax the whole car. I then went and treated all the leather too! LMAO. Thing really needs a clay bar run across it and machine deswirl and polish and seal and hand wax. I know that takes me 8 hours. May be worth it just to pay a detailer. I have yet to find a good one though.
How much for a FULL detail?
    $200
I want it showroom perfect and cut and waxed.
    $200
    Okay, go to it.
    *5 hours latter*
    Here you go sir!
Yeah but the wheels are dirty as are the door jambs and the paint is still rough.
    But we waxed it!
Was that what I asked for? Or did I say cut and polish and make smooth?
    Yes, we waxed it.
No, you sealed in the trash more. Why are their water drips on my dash?
You said you didnt want shiney.
Yes but I didnt specify I wanted it chalky white with drip makes either. ARGH!!!!
Tried 4 companies so far and they all suck.

Oh and I havent seen any stamping at all on the exhaust. Its a whole lot newer from the cats back though and it has more growl than other stock RS6 I have heard so I know its not stock. It does look just like the $1200 Miltek system though.

Make sure you have 2 upper rollers

If you want things done right?

Order the Rosstech or see if your buddy has one. Data logs are a must with any tune on this car

Looks like in the first pic you are missing your belly pan? If so those are on semi-sale right now.
RS6 #1 904959, Daytona, Silver, tons of "stuff," went through puddle, dead engine, end of #1 for me, rebuilt by local enthusiast and thriving.
RS6 #2 904568, Avus, Ebony, no stuff, stock minus RNS-E.

Hey Bill, Welcome! I sent you a PM, let me know what you think. I've got a Vag-Com you would be more than welcome to use.

    Thanks
