    01E from B6 A4 3.0

There's a 2002 A4 3.0 manual being parted out a couple towns north of me; just wondering if the trans would be compatible or if it's much easier to go with an A6/Allroad trans? Figure I can grab this one for chump change...

I think it has the wrong final drive ratio and an even lower 5th (.86 compared to .81) & 6th (.73 compared to .68 (.56 TDI)) gear ratios than a stock B5 S4 gearbox.

Allroad trans has much lower final drive and lower gears, not really suited for the V8 unless you like spinning 3600 rpm at 80mph. TDi 6th gear will put you at 2200-2300 rpm at 80. S4/S6 trans will yield 3100 rpm at 80mph and B6 A4 trans will put you about 3300 rpm at 80mph.
