What is interesting for me is stage 1 apr s7 equals the performance of a stock rs7. Of course the stage 1 rs7 is another issue. Can I get stage 2 s7 and stay with it for 20k less?

    Best Measured APR Stage I - 93 (R+M)/2 Octane 3.52 sec 8.32 sec 8.51 sec 9.93 sec 1.656 sec 11.628 sec 117.83 MPH

    rs7 stock 93 Octane (R+M)/2 3.535 3.720 3.734 7.936 7.771 8.314 8.345 9.656 11.603

numbers from apr website: top is s7 stage 1, bottom is rs7 stock

Depends on your engine. A 'hopped up' Buick can easily lay down 1000hp or more (250hp/L) from 4.1L V6 which is a slightly smaller displacement than the C5 RS6 4.2L V8 power plant. Both are FI while the V6 is a pushrod 4V/cyl engine and the V8 a more exotic quad cam 5V/cyl engine.

The numbers being laid down by the newer generation of 'power hauses' are impressive in the fact that they are doing it in a family car. Been lots of cars prior that make more power and run faster, but you simply can't deny the attractiveness of taking your buddies along with a trunk load of clubs and beating up on and embarrasing the 'Chachi' in his Aston Martin or Lambo....

I was actually referring to the Henessy Corvette, mentioned earlier in this thread, and in the context of higher level OE performance. Not special built race cars that are barely streetable. Might as well throw in the early McLaren 1.5L's that made 1200hp in race and 1500hp in qualifying trim. Or 1,000hp/L.

If a c5 4.2 was the same displacement as a newer corvette it would easily make 840+hp...

6.7 seconds. That's Ferrari Enzo acceleration. Jeebus.

Like most here, I'd love to have the current RS6 Avant. But unlike most high-end buyers, I have no ego to bolster by my ride, and the sad fact is that a hot station wagon is still a station wagon, so I understand why it wouldn't have market appeal in the States.

The RS7 is appealing in that the rear hatch still adds a bit more functionality than a sedan RS6. I am beginning to kick the idea around of buying one next year, but that kind of money also requires me to consider something outrageous like the upcoming Nismo GT-R.

The problem with a stage II S7 is that both engine and tranny might be threatened-the S7 and RS7 motors are not identical, and the S7's S-tronic has a limited torque rating, whereas the RS7's ZF tranny has something like a 1,000Nm rating.

To be honest, I haven't gone past stage one with my rs6 and wouldn't go there stage II with s7. Buy a used rs7 in a couple of years and go stage one on that.

Yep, my next vehicle will be a new model S6 when a mint used one hits 45k miles. Then the Stage1 APR will not void the warranty and the service contract can carry me 6 more years.

Ummm, hate to rain on your parade, but yes it will.

Perhaps you're thinking of STaSIS, which offers a warranty that runs concurrently with the factory warranty? But STaSIS doesn't offer anything for the 4.0TT at this point....

I was not real clear with that statement.

Buying the car at the end of factory warranty will allow me to then run APR. The service contract can take it from there.

Any factory AoA service claim will need the spec scan from the dealer. Not touching that bad boy till its past 50k.

I will have to rough it till the time comes. I have two RS6s with stuff and stuff, stuff that are running in the 40k range. They are not letting me down any time soon.
