'02 S6 Avant Silver - Pokey | Carbon Black/Ebony RS6 w/ stuff - darn quick | '03 Daytona Grey/Ebony RS6 w/ more stuff - quicker yet | '91 NSX CDN issue with 6spd & BBSC - quicker yet and then some | '87 Buick GNX OEM clone w/ lots of stuff - quickest hands down
Actually, I had a rep test drive mine for the DRC and he agreed something in the tranny wasnt kosher.. they basically just told me they were going to replace it under warranty... didnt mention any codes ..
You are ten digits from the end of USA production! I laugh alittle every time I see a 2003 RS6 with a build date of December 2003.
Our lovely EPA/DOT regulations that eliminated the fuel return line is the main reason for giving us so many 2003 RS6s and literally building "2003" models half way thru 2004 production.

904933. Build date 07/2003. Never have had transmission issues. Torque converter was preventatively removed last November, sent to ACE for rebuild, and reinstalled. Engine was out for replacement of O2 sensor that was pranged when I took a rear end hit from a text messaging woman. So the majority of the labor of engine removal was paid by her insurance. Tozo was very helpful, didn't think transmission overhaul was required. Car now has 49,xxx miles.
2003 RS6, Mugello/Silver, MTM Stage 1 ECM, and TCM mod, Abt 19 inch wheels for summer, stock 18s for winter, RS6+ Pedals INSTALLED! 2Bennett coilover system, 2Bennett front brakes; DRC gone!
DHall,
I don't have my build date at hand, but I do have details on the VIN and TC replacement date and mileage.
VIN: 904574 (I am first and only owner)
TC Replacement:
Date: 04/21/2006
Mileage: 32250
Replaced defective TC ZF18010
TC part number put in the car: 01L-323-571-G
ATF Oil: G-055-005-A2
For what it is worth, car was not abused, and hasn't been abused. Stock ECU/TCU.
Just turned 60K miles without any further TC issues, and hopefully remaining string Transmission.
Going to replace oil on the Tranny in the next few weeks. Gathering data now on what to do and what to use, from the information on the forums.
^^Thanks for the info Nene. It seems that if the TC is caught early and replaced before the trans internals become damaged the owners can enjoy many years of excellent service from the trans. I would throw my hat to use BND trans fluid as the replacement. Many users on this forum can give the thumbs up for BND. I keep 6 gallons of the fluid back in my shop at all times.
90413X, 4/03, 85.3K miles. Revo/Giac tcu for 2+ years (from about 60-65K miles)
Trans pan gasket replaced appx. 40K miles (engine out svc for new turbo's too) about 5-6 yrs ago.
No history I've found of TC or Trans replacement.
Always a SoCal car (Los Angeles, CA, USA) where it's hot. Traffic lights are so long the sun noticeably moves (=heat soak). Seems like it! But car was in Torrance for awhile where it's surprisingly cool.
July '12 @ 73K miles- Major trans service (16 qts flush w/Amsoil ATF). Old fluid was in TERRIBLE condition and far too low; wondered what body part will i have to sell soon for a new trans?
July '13 @ 84k miles- same (but slightly modified filter pickup). Shifts even better, smoother, no hiccups or shift flares/slips.
No codes prior or currently.
Have a bit more to add, but was planning a separate post......
Cheers, G2/Gary

Will look for BND Trans Fluid. Thanks for the recommendation.
