If the alt is charging then why would the car die???

And my shop said it was 100% the alt and its covered under my warranty! Issue if just that they can't find a new one anywhere? Said they will keep calling Audi dealerships and if that doesn't work they'd overnight ship it from the motherland

You can get the alt rebuilt for a $80 right? Warranty might want new one...

Warranty is paying for the new one expect for my $100 deductible. So I might as well wait for a new one instead of a rebuilt.

With the low voltage code your alternator will constantly be "high" charge mode and the life of its regulator will be greatly diminished.

An alternator may still "work" even when tested with a Volt meter. Or the battery/alternator dash light turns off after starting the engine.

But when tested with an Oscilloscope may reveal the wave form to be irregular, that allows A/C voltage into the D/C system. All modern Alternators use an internal system to convert the voltage.

Various electrical issues should be expected when the voltages "clash". Especially so, on a high tech car. For electrical problems, New is always better than Remanufactured, and if nothing else helps rules out the possibility of similar electrical issues.

Just an update on my issue......apparently the main fuse block on the passenger side firewall in the engine compartment was my problem. Replaced the entire assembly and the battery light went out and has not come back on.
