"The all-wheel drive system will also get a torque-vectoring rear differential. Whether power will flow through an eight-speed auto or a newer seven-speed dual clutch remains to be seen. The body should also see a near 220lb weight drop thanks to the use of aluminum and carbon fiber."

    Finally...

I get the idea that Audi doesn't give a crap about stepping on Porsches toes. People will buy the Audi if they get it within a sec of it just because the panamera is so god awful to look at! If you gave me one i would immediately take it and sell it and buy literally anything else. I was very close with my 570hp guess for the RS6, but it makes me wonder how much is left for extraction with just a tune/exaust. Also I'm somewhat surprised we are getting it here. Fingers crossed we get an avant!! If we do I'll be in line to get it new, even if I have to sell my soul! If only the sedan then I'll be in the 2017 used club!

" outgoing RS6′s naturally-aspirated and Lamborghini-sourced 5.0-liter V10" The outgoing V10 is also a Bi-Turbo like our V8, they need to get some of their facts straight. I would imagine it would put out a few more HP, closer to 600hp as the outgoing is 571~579hp depending on who's literature you believe.

Bingo. 140+bhp/L is a host of power. Some of the 4.2L beasts on this board are pushing that power with a high boost tune and until you do more engine/tranny mods with cams, turbos, etc, you simply won't get that much more. If I was to read anything in to what they are claiming, it's the GmbH group is stepping it up a notch with tuning that we already know can be extracted from the C5 platform and putting it in from the get go on the next C7 platform or whatever they will call it. Still need a strong transmission behind it all. Escapes me why the mentality to use an automatic slushbox behind so much power goes on. At least Cadillac gives you the option of auto/6spd. Audi has a good 6spd in their RS4. Why not expand on that and put one in the RS6? I'm pretty certain the multitude of RS6 owners out there would prefer to have the manual vs. the auto.

I'm perfectly fine with a good dual clutch if it can handle more than just the power it's given! I actually prefer it for a car that's a daily driver. IMO is 6 spds are for 2 doors.

a 6spd would be amazing, as long as the clutches can handle all the HP/TQ.....

    I'm +1 on the 2017 buy....maybe even 2020 lol

If VAG does not give us a manual, I will puke.

My ADD requires a manual transmission.

This C5 slushbox makes me forget I am driving.
