New owner... first post. Wheel fitment question

    Hi all,

I picked up a Daytona RS6 a few weeks ago. I've had a few Audis and this one will replace my Ur-S4 which I have had for a long time. I also have a track prepped Miata with a homebrew turbo setup that I drive when the weather is nice and my fillings feel secure. (The power:weight ratio is pretty similar to a stock RS6 but the experience -- and the torque curve -- is of course totally different.)

Anyway, with that intro out of the way, a beginner's question that I have searched in vain to answer: are there any smaller and narrower Audi OEM wheels that will fit the RS6? I am thinking about a winter tire setup, and ideally would like to run something like a 17x7.5 wheel with a ~225 section width tire on it. Is this feasible? From past experience narrow tires make a noticeable difference in snow performance.

Welcome to the best Rs6 forum. I don't think 17" wheels will clear the brakes. There are 225 tire sizes available though.

Also, make sure the tire is XL rated for the weight of these beasts.

Pretty sure you have to have 18' wheels on the RS6, my snow rims barely clear with 18's, 225 45 18 I believe.

The oem winter wheel is a 18x7.5 with a 5 spoke pattern. I believe those take 225's.

Ok, thanks guys. I knew the rotors were big but I didn't realize HOW big. 365 mm is huge. I have 323s on my Ur-S that barely clear 16" rims, so no surprise that you can't fit a rotor 1.7" bigger under a wheel only 1" bigger. I'll keep my eye out for those winter package rims. Were they used on any other (less rare) cars?

Oh and by the way I did have to buy that Ozzy mp3, because the damned guitar riff from the beginning of the song got stuck in my head all afternoon, even though I haven't heard the song in 20 years! Oh well, at least you can buy songs a la carte now.

I did fine for 6 years on a second set of OEM wheels that I ran Dunlop Wintersport M3s on. Worked great even with wider tire, and kept OEM look. If you can find a set the original OEM 5 spoke Audi 18" wheels look very nice. Plenty of replicas out there but can tend to be weaker.

I run 225/45 18's on stock rims for winter, works great. small stretch on the tire, but looks fine IMO and very comfortable compared to my summer 255/35s.

Correct but I used to run rs4 b5 18's alloys with spacers. Sadly now I have had the big brake option I can only run 19's I will have too keep looking for some genuine rs6 alloys for winter use

Looks excellent, I see that bit of stretch, seems minor though. Looking at the 225/40/18 Blizzak LM-60...would be just a bit lower profile, a few buck cheaper though...the amount of sizing it great!
