Too funny...my wife has the E55(I picked the car so you can imagine the heat I get at the dinner table). The E55 is in the shop every 5 months for leaking gas tanks along with this, that and the other. She wants her old LS400 back and demands I sell the E55. I simply gave her the keys to the LX470 and took the E55 back for myself. Told her I would put the E55 on a yearly cost/maint schedule to determine if we need to sell. ;-) So far so good the master plan has worked to perfection.

RS6 has cost me 150 dollars this year. Yeeks, I need to trade for a Kia.

The MAF's are attached to the bottom of the air cleaner assembly, and I'm almost positive they aren't properly seated into the turbo inlets on the pack of the engine, thus the engine is sucking all of it's air past the MAF sensors. This is what's causing your fuel trim codes.
Had the car back in today, and had the MAF O ring seals changed ($85 each!) as the old ones seemed worn. Pulling strong, no codes, but I told them to keep it another day and do some WOT runs tomorrow to be sure. So far, looks like you were spot on, professor...

Glad to hear they got it sorted out.

MAF seal reseating seems to be the most common fault after disturbing the airbox. I had same problem after a cambelt change fixed with a reseat of the airbox and MAF as per previous post.

The old O rings were a bit beat up, but as you say, they've got 109K miles on them and so I'd say they did their job! I suspect that as more of our cars reach middle age, more will encounter this issue. Hard to know what gets disturbed when the airbox is removed, but no question, I've got the car back and no issues, that was the problem...
Once again, many thanks for the assistance.
