    55k Service

Does $680 for the 55k service sound like a decent price from an Audi Dealer?

for service intervals do you do it by miles or by time?
My car isnt the daily driver, thats why i ask. Its been 22 months and the car has only gone less than 6k miles since my major service, should i just ask them to do the next major service interval or wait?
I just do the regular oil change and filter, what else should I ask them to do?

Actually, $680 seems low. I just did the 55K with an independent, and it was closer to $1300. Dealer was up over $2K. Check and see what you're getting. It's a big service (not as big as the 75K), and the independent wasn't going to do several listed things. I told them to do everything.

I don't have the books for the car, so I have no idea what the service should cover. Anyone got a spare they want to sell? And what should be done at 55k?

Service done for $30 more than quoted. Not bad all-in-all. They did find one thing and offer me another.

    1. Prop shaft seal appears to have a small leak. I think I found some links on how to fix this myself, but they quoted me $600 to fix it and that seems like a fair price. Is it? I'm thinking $600 to fix that is a bargain considering the effort it looks like it will take me, plus they will have to stand behind their service.

    2. Front fans rattle when car is turned off. The fans do sound like the bearings may be going as they slow to a stop. $1900 to fix this and it seemed like a rip off.

    3. They wanted to flush the brake fluid, which seemed prudent. But I think I can do this. Do the brakes have speedbleeders on them? I'm thinking RBF600 for brake fluid and I might just replace the pads with EBC Red.

    Thoughts?
