    Legal High Speed Driving....

For those who has passed the 1000 mile mark, you might want to consider streaching their "Beast's" legs a little by signing up for the Silver State Classic Challenge. You will get the opportunity to legally drive as fast as you want on a 90 mile stretch of Nevada highway!! Its cheaper then a trip to the Autobahn, plus you get you drive your own car. Get all the details at http://www.silverstateclassic.com/home.htm. Have fun!

A very awesome deal. I really wanted to go this year but if i'm already going to Laguna Seca AND the Audi event in November at Sears Point, I'll have a very hard time attending that as well. Maybe next year

That might not necessarily be true. I don't know from personal observation at this point but I've heard that the speed limiter on the RS6 is quite liberal. FWIW!

Top Gear, on BBC TV, reported that they got over 170mph in a standard RS6 before they ran out of road, and felt that it would go faster.

    Benman,
Great diplomatic answer! You might want to consider adding your name to the Governors race.

    Drive safely,

Governor on my dealer's Avant (completely stock) goes at 281 km/h (about 175 mph). I've tried few times ....... of course there are not road tax collectors like in CA ......

Come to the Isle of Man and you can drive at any speed you like, all within the law...that's not including the residential and industrial estates.

They usually have either a 20,30 or 40 mph speed limit.

I've included an example of Manx roads...

    Benman.......got it.

Klint.....that road looks awesome. Has anyone ever travelled to 29 Palms....heading......damn can't remember.....but once you leave 29 Palms and headed towards Mojave......there is a straight-away that must be like 20-30 miles long. ......i mean that fricken road went on FOREVER.......but it's been like 14 years.....so it's probably not as long as that......but if you know the one i'm talking about please share the name.

p.s. it's a 2 lane highway........and the good half hour i was on it i must have passed a dozen car max.

are u talking about the route from Owens Lake to Vegas?

taking the 14, keep going north which becomes 395, then go on to Owens Lake, and turn right. a nice drive the across the desert plateau, down into Death Valley over to Parump and then on into Vegas.

...actually I have no idea of what I'm talking about so let me go look (opens mapquest and zeros in around 29 palms)......okay as far as I can tell I think it's "Amboy Road".

I'm pretty sure we left 29 palms and then headed for the 40.....so that may be the one. Have you or anyone ever driven down that road?
