    Audi S4 is underrated?

    http://www.autoblog.com/2009/10/28/r...is-underrated/

Looks like Audi is pulling the same trick with their new supercharged S4. Volkswagen and Audi tuner APR stuck a 2010 Audi S4 on an AWD-dyno and discovered the following. Instead of the 333 hp and 325 torques Audi is claiming, they pulled 331 hp and 336 pound-feet of torque... at the wheels! Figuring that AWD cars have about a 20% parasitic drivetrain power loss, the actual crank output of the S4 is huge. How huge? By our calculations just about 400 horsepower/torques

probably more like 360-370 hp. parasitic losses vary greatly among different awd systems.

as i posted elsewhere, if audi makes a 4.0T it will be amazing. let's hope such an engine makes it into the next R8.
    Past- A4, TT, S4

    Present- R8 V10

You're right about the HP, but it's probably down to an optimistic dyno (Dynojet dynos apparently tend to be just that).

I wonder what the future is of the new 500 hp W12 for the new A8.
A W12 is the size of a V8, they can put that easily in the back of the R8.
With some mods 600 hp much be doable.

W12 is much heavier than the V8, no? not sure if it can be dry sumped. plus it produces more heat.

If dynos can't even agree on the figure being produced then how are we to believe which figure is the right one.
Search and you will find the truth.
