    Rotor Source?

Have decided to do the brake job myself. Any good sources for OEM rotors and pads?

    Thanks,

if you're not strictly looking for lowest price, you can get cryo-treated OEM rotors for about the same price as dealer rates at frozenrotors.com.

I would be interested in hearing if anyone has had experience with these rotors from frozenrotors.com. How much longer do they last? At $508 a rotor, they are a little more than OEM rotors. Btw, Carson@RiversideAudi on AW has quoted me $365 (20% over dealer cost) a rotor.

Confirmed that Carson is offering rotors at cost plus 20%. Haven't ordered, yet, but they've got a new parts depot set up (www.audipartsdepot.com). If you're a member over on AW, just apply for a wholesale account. OEM Disks are $365 each and pads are $292.

Just use part numbers as follows:

4B3-615-301-E Disk $364.67 using AW discount
4B3-615-302-A Disk $364.67 using AW discount
4B3-698-151-A Linings $291.89 using AW discount

There are the numbers I was provided directly from Carson.

However, you have to have an AW account to get it. Otherwise, it's retail less 15% which works out to a bit more ($385/rotor).

I've had rotors from frozenrotors.com since last fall, and used them at the Daytona driving event in December (8 ~25 minute sessions). I also had hi-temp brake fluid, but no other brake mods. Zero issues so far (at the event or otherwise); that said, this isn't conclusive proof that the cryo-treatment made a difference. Given the relatively low cost vs. 'plain' OEM, I would do it again for occasional track use.

Actually, the difference is about 30% (~$730 vs ~$1000). For me, the cryo treatment is worth it but this is a highly non-scientific opinion!

    CW,

Are you still planning to do the job yourself or have you already done it? I think I will need a brake job soon and plan to do it myself also. I noticed you're in the DC metro area and if you're close enough I would like to observe or give you some help if you need it. I have done a lot of brake jobs but never on something like the RS6 and so I would like to get some experience with it. Send me a PM if you're interested.
