    An electrician, I am not...

I am trying to hardwire my Escort into my , but why can't I get power to the unit? Everything is installed correctly, but I must be tapping into the wrong wire.

Does the wire need to be "on" in order for the unit to get power from the splice? For example, if I tap into the left side marker wire is the unit only going to get power when the side marker is "on"?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

you want switched power (so the unit turns on/off with the ignition). you can access this from the headlining if you want (but need to be careful that your power isn't on the 'time delay' circuit). tell me where you are mounting the unit, and i will tell you where to locate a wire.

Thanks Dave! I am mounting the unit up by the passenger's visor, then running the wire down the driver-side a-pillar. Then I am putting the "mute/controller" indicator in the corner of the dash, above the fuse box.

even better to use the drivers information display using a can-bus gateway - then it is fully hidden.

    highly recommended. http://store.caughtbluehanded.com/audikits.html

Ummm....I just found K40 components in my car while installing the Escort. I am taking my car to a K40 installer tomorrow to see what I am missing. I was planning on ditching the Escort this Spring and buying a V1, but should I consider the K40? I've read mixed reviews....
