    BMW readys X5M !!!!!

It's looks like BMW the fore runners to the SUV are not going to allow the likes of ML63amg and Cayenne Turbo to rein the sector of the SUV market on their own, there now seems to be movement inside M-division that their rival will soon be upon us.

The question is, what will the engine choice be?

I saw this on the AMS site the other day...

I think it will be M5 derivated V10, but maybe ''silenced'' a little... But, having in mind that Cayenne has 500, and MB ML 63 AMG 514 hps.....

It still won't touch Q7 V12 TDI in my opinion. Maybe if it will use a diesel engine too but it's not likely.

There won't be a X5-M. BMW have said to the press that the M5 won't get the treatment from M GMBH. This is an test of the V10 for the X6.

But still, who knows with BMW.

X5 V8 TT, but not X5-M - this is the car.

BMW is researching the new engine 4.0L V8 TT.
It will have more than 400 hp output and 500 Nm of Torque.
All 5-, 6-, 7-, X5-series will get this engine for sure.

This engine is a bigger brother of that in 335i.

"old" RS6 engine had 4.2 V8 TT with 450 hp and 565 Nm in 2002 (stock) - maybe Audi should license that to BMW?

BMW engine 3.0L TT has become the best engine of 2006 due to lack of turbolag, relatively small weight and etc.
Their engine 4.0L TT will be a very interesting option.

    Look at 5-series:
BMW 550i has 0-100 at 5.2 after restyling (367 hp)
    Audi S6 has 0-100 at 5.2 (435 hp)

BMW 5-series with this new engine will be much faster thatn 550i due to less engine weight and much more torque and power. Expectations it will be 4.9-5.0 for 0-100.
Moreover, this engine will be completed with X-drive and then it becomes a real competitor to Audi.

I think the one seen in the states is fitted with the engine you are talking about, but this one in Germany is clearly different, I reckon WCF's opinions of what this is are point on. This is the future X5M to rival the big Merc and Porsche.

Sooner or later we get it - a SUV/SAV from BMW M-Division.
May it be not X5, but X6 which is more sport-oriented.

X6 is positioned as a competitor to ML, Cayenne, Infiniti FX.
And X5 is positioned to compete with GL, Infiniti QX and other big SUVs.

So, the top engine for X5 will be 4.0 V8 TT already mentioned here.
And the top engine for X6 will be 5.0 V10 from M-Division but tuned for SUV/SAV specialities.

Next year X6 will be revealed and we will understand it all.
Anyway, the competition is rising heavily, because Audi is also going to produce not only big Q7, but Q5 and even Q3.

It won't be called an M but an iS, just like the 4.6iS and 4.8iS

I don't doubt that this is coming but the test mule in Germany was fitted with the trademark quad pipes which are only offered with M models.

That means nothing. They might use quad pipes on the iS models too from now on.

Trust me when I say that no model other than an M model will ever get it's exhausts, especially quad exhaust close to the centre like an M3/5/6.

This is a BMW M trademark which they have sole use of, no normal BMW will ever get this.
