Audi A5 3.0TDi Destroying completely the BMW 3 series 330xd...

I've just read my local AMS magazine where the new A5 with 3.0TDi engine developing 240HP vs BMW 330xd with 321HP!!!!! has been destroyed with less power but with more agile and more perfect traction (the differences are shown here quattro vs xdrive...quattro way more performant and dynamic)...
Now i will publish the performance grile to show you that i am right and the the last clasament to the thest were Audi has been awarded with NO.1 in front of BMW...again and again Audi demonstrated that only Audi is no.1 in premium sportscars in this world...

330xd has 231hp, not 321... Before you start your BMW bashing crusade, get your facts straight. 240 > 231 so no wonder the Audi is faster?...

Do they really? The newest incarnation of the 3.0TDI performs really well (240hp) in the A5 3.0TDI. 0-100 in 5.9 seconds vs the 335d (286hp) which does the same thing in 6.2 seconds.

The A5 3.0 is also heavier, 1700kg vs 1655kg for the 335d. I know, the 335d lacks 4wd, but still, the 3.0TDI is a very capable engine.

After experiencing both of them the A5 3.0TDi though a very capable machine just can't match the almighty torque that the 335d produces, in quoted figures they are rivals, but the reality is quite different. The A5 is capable of posting 100mph times of the mid 15s but a 335d will post mid 13s runs all day long plus it's in-gear times are totally ridiculous.

You know how I love my Audis, but until Audi produce a rival with the same spec the 335d will be the daddy of the small diesels.

3.0TDI from Audi rocks...and thefore is the best engine...stay alert because Audi will launch soon the new 2.0 204HP and 3.0 almost 290HP, i just know...wait for it!

The 290hp 3.0TDi, is this a Bi-turbo unit or single?

You didn't get the BMW numbers right so why should we believe you...

I can't wait for that to hapend, but i have to remind you that BMW allready launched 2.0l bi-turbo engine, developing 204 hp, BMW 123 d, that is.

Wehn do you reckon that Audi will release that new 3.0 TDI... ?

3.0TDI with 290 (rumored from somewhere i know) will be released on A6 facelift next year and then on A8 new facelift in 2008 as well, be patient!Should i remind you that the new Crosscoupe Quattro concept has the new 2.0TDI with 204hp? and thefore the new tdi will be on the new A4 in a few weeks...i am very sure about that, even in the AMS says that...and the other thing, i knew the 3 series coupe has that kind of power as you said but i actually write from the magazine...
and i found about another engine the new 4.2TDI will develop at least 365HP.
p.s. the new 3.0TDI will have biturbo that's how they will have that kind of power...and guys who has the biggest diesel in the world?audi...and is a few months away from the launch...in october there will be the new Q7 V12 TDI...

I remember write about this sometime about a year ago, it that time it was hinted to me that Audi were looking to develop a range of diesel powered S and RS models. I remember discussing it with Hans at the time but he wasn't aware of anything at that time.

I hope these hints and rumours have indeed turned in to reality.

Same here, Audi really know how to make really good dieselengines. Go for it!

A 290 hp 3.0 TDI would be awsome. Perfect for a A5!

And other models as well ofcourse...

Audi will not release any S/RS model range with diesel engines, only S-line that's it, because they do not need diesel, they need power and respect, and in the future because of the new reglementations about global warming they will have only engine up to 5L with electric motors and batteries, no more...only this year's Q7 V12 TDI will launch in the range of 6.0L but that's it...but we could see in the future the new W12 biturbo with electric motors with more power than Bentley who is using him a lot!But believe 3.0TDI with that kind of power will be released soon...just wait...

So it's to be only S models, well a lot can change within a year. The output have dropped a little from what I was told back then, but not by much (310hp). Like I already said I hope it becomes a reality, and not a lot of black smoke.
