Talking Porsche 997 GT2 Nürburgring time from Porsche themselves.

Well, do I have to say more?

Just hope the Sportauto time is in this region as well when they do their supertest.

Amazing, never again will the GT2 be laughed at by others and called the Widow maker because it's undrivable. Clearly this time round we have to best Supercar on the market.

In fact I am under the impression that the rest of the manufacturers have been designing their cars all wrong, it's as plain as day that the best design to make a car handle is to throw the engine way out there behind the rear axle.

WOW...unbelievable lap time, good for Porsche. Isn't 7:3X very near to the laptime made by the Carrera GT and the Pagani Zonda F ¿? :S...if so...that is one HELL of a car.

    Cheers all,

    Javier

You'll have to think about that this is Porsches own time. Not sportauto, Sportauto did 7.32 with the CGT. Porsches own testdrivers are under 7.30, but still the GT2 will go under 7.40 when sportauto drives it and it's damn quick!

    You're right, it'll be under 7:40...that's a sure thing.

In a straight line the RT12 will destroy it, hands down. But when it comes to cornering I think the GT2 will show what it's really made of. :king:

awesome time that thing is going to blow the doors off of alot of cars.

I'm suprissed you guys don't diss it for being rear wheel drive lol

If the csl had 150 more hp it would of closed the gap a little closer to this time,The csl would lose time in the straight aways and make it up in the corners. The ring is a huge track and 150 more hp can make a consideral amount of time in the straights.

either way this car is my fav P-car and always has been.I can't emagine what that car will do once you up the boost with a tune.

The new csl will not beat this time, this is super car territory and the only car that has potential to beat it is the zo6 vet.

    skratch,

I thought we were starting to get on quite well recently, but you had to bring up the rwd thing and worse still the bloody CSL in to the mix.

When ever a car does a really good time on the ring the CSL has to be mentioned that either it's time was better or in this case, give the CSL an extra 150hp and boy watch out Mr GT2.

Sorry for the out-burst but it had to be said.

Now back to the real subject matter, the GT2. Does anyone who when it's official test and time will be, as it will be interesting to see how close they can get to that of Porsche. I reckon if they get to within 10 seconds that will be some achievement.

I know I joked about what makes a great handling car, but clearly this car proves that anything goes and if you stick at it long enough the results are there to be had. And I for one will look forward to more of Porsche's input on future Audi cars.

This official test time will have been lapped by Walter Rohl (i think thats the right spelling) who is an unbelievable driver and has lapped this circuit many thousands of times. I read an article about him and Porsche in a magazine not so long ago, i'll try to find it but i recently got rid of quite a pile of old car mags.
