I really hope they will brake the "magic" 500hp line, Auto Motor und Sport expects 550hp. Well, we will see.

V10 Biturbo from the next gen RS6... some 585 BHP sould do nice on such a sweet chassis!! the car is very well balanced and easy to drive with the v8... and 160 bhp more should deliver the message to all the sportscar manufacturer "Audi is in for the N1 spot!!!"

I doubt we'll see the RS6 engine in the R8. Technically it's a problem to fit a Turbo system in a mid engined car, b/c there's no easy access to fresh air for the intercoolers. And it would embarras the Gallardo, which is the earner in the VAG supercar family.

If the R8 comes with anything over 500hp then in my opinion Porsche and VAG/Audi don't see the car as a threat to either the 997tt or the Gallardo and I personally would agree with that as Audi will want to keep numbers low enough to help resale values.

But will it be a better car than either of them, then the answer would be yes. It's more practical and more luxurious than the Lambo and more exclusive and luxurious than the Porsche and in the sexiest body of any car to date.
Search and you will find the truth.
