Ceramic are great of course but just remember the test ceramic vs standard brakes I posted on the RS4 section : first big braking with the ceramic is 5-6 meters longer than standard. The ceramic must be warmed up before delivering their best.

This means that for a one shot big braking (as in this vid) standard brakes will perform better.

From 160 I agree. I'd like to see the results for 10 consecutive brakings from 310 though.

Seriously though - its rare that you get up to 300 or so on the autbahn and have cold brakes. Practically impossible.

Its a mark IV with VF stage 4 kit. I couldnt believe it the first time I drove the car. It is pretty insane, just wish the power came on a little earlier. It only makes 5lbs of boost until you hit 5000 rpm and then all hell brakes loose.

Was at the Ring today and the brakes sure didn't like it

We came off the track and the tires were smoking hard, so we took the car for a brake-less spin on the B-roads to let the brakes cool.
With some imagination you can see the smoke coming off the brakes in the first pic.

Aye, for me the point is the 19m difference after 10 brakings. That is a HUGE difference. And I've never had a situation on near any road where my brakes were cold for lack of using them. So its a moot point for me.

Anyway - brakes are one of the most important elements in a car. In a city a difference of 2m decides whether you're going to hit that pedestrian who ran out onto the zebra crossing or not.

Mory nobody here is saying the contrary : Ceramic brakes are great no doubt.

But they need a little warm up before to give their best. So in a one shot hard braking you might be longer than with standard so beware pedestrians !!! See below :

    RS 4 Avant with ceramics:

    1º 100,8 mts
    2º 96,4 mts
    3º 97,8 mts
    4º 95,3 mts
    5º 93,4 mts
    6º 92,2 mts
    7º 92,2 mts
    8º 92,2 mts
    9º 92,3 mts
    10º 91,9 mts

    RS4 Cabrio Standard Brakes

    1º 95,82 mts
    2º 96,4 mts
    3º 97,62 mts
    4º 94,22 mts
    5º 97,06 mts
    6º 94,47 mts
    7º 102,43 mts
    8º 101,71 mts
    9º 104,83 mts
    10º 107,96 mts

Also 10x consecutive 160-0 hard braking does not reflects any real drive situation even hard track drive.

But of course it concretely shows you that the extra $$ spent are worthwhile. so be happy

This is a autobahn with 2 tracks at the day...
Why you are driving 300? You have nothing under control...thats only stupid.

Do that on the A5 with 3 or 4 tracks at the night or on a race track.
tztz this is typical, many foreigners come to Germany for racing on the autobahn cause here is no speed limit and driving like idiots.

Especially dutchs and swiss are racing on the autobahn.

Don't think I'm a slow driver, I like to drive fast myself but in this situation it's stupid.
Sometimes driver not even look one time in the mirror...in this case it could be really close and you will crash before you have any chance to brake.

    Think about it.

if that is true, then you are correct - the behaviour is stupid and is putting the driver, and others lives at risk.
