    piero,

This is roughly what all the sensible people on this site would expect from race between the CSL and RS4. If you factor in the extra weight of the Avant then 1 or possibly 2 car lengths more up to 250km/h would be a reasonable outcome, not the 5 car lengths within 300meters of this video.

In this video RS4 sedan is quicker than CSL:

    KK265,

Much as I would like to say that proves the RS4 is quicker would be to validating the other video of the RS4 Avant vs CSL. Both these video seem to be at the extremes of what is believable, you know as well as I that any race between them would be way closer than that.

But this nice the see and another great find.

This video does not show anything....the csl driver doesn't know how to race..that's all.

I can tell you an RS4 doen't say bye bye to a CSl in staight line!

That is your experience of course.According to your theory the driver of the RS4 avant did not know how to race. But have you dyno your car to see if it is better or worst than a standard? How sure are you about the improvement.Because :
1.The driver of the grey RS4 which lost from Gustav had modifications at exhaust system and the car was WORST as the owner said later.
2.My bone stock car is quicker than another with modified ECU.He says that is an MTM chip but i doubt because i did not see any chip tuning in the MTM site.
So i believe only the dynometer.
P.S See also supertest of Schnitzer M6 vs stock M6 and Digitec M3 vs stock M3.Stock cars are both quicker in straight line accelaration!!

Just said that in a race like the one you show, we can see it's the driver who drives fast in the RS4, and that the CSL driver is slow, we can't say, seeing it, RS4 is better than csl, it's completly subjectiv....that's all.

After that, the RS4 avant vid vs csl is a mistery for me...'cause i've raced yesterday my friend CSL, and it's pretty close. So 5 cars behind is simply understandable.

    So:

1: the driver must be bad
2: the RS4 must be too "young"
3: it's an avant and not a sedan

It's all i can say. You're right saying generally stock cars are generally better than modified. Concerning myself, i just put sport cats. Don't have dyno but i'll do several very soon. I'll put it on the board. I really don't feel it worth, and as it's not louder, we can't say it's the noise which makes me believe this or that...my feeling, with only sportcats, is a very small lost at 1500 rpms, but a improvement after 5000 rpms. We gonna see....

I say that in many cases the modifications destroy the balance of the car.I am very interested about your results and especially about the difference with sport button on and off and what about then with the noise. What sport cats do you use and what QPI?

The dyno is a four wheel one, and it's at auto tune heinz (belgium)
And my sport cats come from BFR, a belgium exhaust specialist.

    I'll give you the results.

    OK then, now its judgementday.
M5.com just now today did their supercar drag in a 2km long lane. They drove about 1.5 km or somthing to have a safe braking area.

Well the CSL is faster every time than the new RS4, all the way, the CSL got about 250km on speedo just before its braking. Due to alot of supercars and limited time all drove rolling starts from 50km/h.

First, peopel in genral is not good in launching a car from standstill, it would never be time to let all have plenty of tryouts to at least have a decent start, as well many are to worried about their cars thats why 50 rolling is best. (it was not my ide)

From 50 its also the car that are delivering and not so much the driver, and this was a key factor for M5.com, stand still starts is to a very, very high extent depending on the driver and not so much the car.

Any way the RUF 996 Turbo 650(it got 700hp) was the fastest of all. The Porsche Carrera GT and MB SLR did not stand a chance as i heard from Erik and Peter, congrats guys, well done .

Loads of pics and film are on the way i heard

Thanks for the info! The CSL really is quick, tune is silver. Saving weight is gold!

Interesting about the RUF, not surprised though. Those cars FLY, and with 700hp. DAMN! Can't wait for the vids!

I thought you said tune was silver and not gold, I think you better tell the boys at RUF.

    Hello all,
This weekend I had the oppotunity to race a few BMWs. Amongst them a CSL and two M5's. Two races against the CSL. The first I missed third gear and the CSL started a bit before me, but the end result was one car length ahead. The second race I got perfect shifts (right before the rev limiter maybe 8240 RPM) and I think we started almost at the same time. However he beat me by about two car lengths which is strange considering the first result. However one thing is certain from 50-200+ the CSL is quicker. I reached an end speed of about 240KPH in about 1.5Km I think (I'll have to get this verified later). I also raced a 630Hp M6 which left me in the dust. I think he would have had time to stop for a sausage if he wanted :-). The M5's beat me (I think it was so close) by maybe 1 meter. We both got perfect starts and shifts. Surprisingly I gained alot during the last couple of hundred meters. The first M5 however beat me by more but I totally messed up third gear and forgot to disengage antispin :-(. I will get back with the model's of the M5's later. There are videos of all races.

I also raced an Alpina M3 which didn't have a chance really.

So the M5 and CSL are faster from 50-200+ no doubt. Standstill hoever is think the RS4 would give them a tough match, however it would require a great start.

Was also there yesterday, with my B7 RS4 Avant.

My car has only 3000km and has therefore not recieved all the power yet but I did my best.

Started racing a ML 63 AMG. If the track would have been 50 meters longer I would have beaten him but this was not the case yesterday. Also raced a E55 AMG and lost, had some problem with the third gear plus that I didnt let the rev do the work on all gears .

Sorry BMWH8ER, had to leave in an instant, will see you at another event hopefully! We will race next time!

Very exciting day, lots of superfast cars and great arranged. We will have to start a new thread about this event, just let Gustav do his work first....

I don't see a problem with a CSL beating a RS4 from 50~200km/h, the only problem I had was that video that showed the CSL walking a good 5/6 car lengths away which all things equal wouldn't happen.

I most say like the rest of us I too am looking forward to the videos of the event.
