Maybe it just me, but does the world an even faster Z06 vette.
Search and you will find the truth.
Does the world need a Veyron?
This is the loooong rumored "Blue Devil" that Chevy has been working on. Still no confirmed green light, but if Lutz gets his way, it will be made. Especially good timing seeing as the last Ford GT rolled off the assembly line in late Sept, so no American competition...
If the Z06 was great bang for the buck, "wait'll they get a load of this..." (to paraphrase the Joker ).

A Z06 owner name Ranger pulled off a 11.4 or a 11.6 quarter mile trapping 128 and it was stock. This new one is gonna be at least 100lbs lighter and have 650 horsepower.
Valid point Ben. But the point still stands, as car get more powerful the risk factor keeps going up. As someone who has access to a Lotus Elan (the original) with it's 126bhp and 670kg, power doesn't always equal entertainment. What was correct then and correct now.
Will this vette be more entertaining, yeah a little. Will it be scarier to drive on the open road, hell yeah. Some of you might look at me and say 'pussy' , but I say how much of a good thing does one need.

I´ll get one, for sure! It´s gonna be a dragster with go-cart feeling!
Leadfoot,
I read you loud and clear. 600+hp with only 3100lbs is scarey fast on a street and unless it comes with lots of traction controls, ESP, etc... all but the most skilled pilots will be crashing them...
My point was only, do we want to see them built? Heck yeah!

Point taken, but like the Mercedes AMG65s in all forms. We all know that the normal if you can call 500hp normal AMG55s are the much better cars and all this is down to the fact that the chassis can't cope properly with all the power available.
This is a very fine line where engineers live, day in day out and though they might say that in the case of the vette 500 horses is just right, the marketing guys say hell no think what impact a 650 horsepower monster would make to the brand image now there no Ford GT to spoil the show, the ultimate American Hotrod. It will do exactly what the marketing man want but that doesn't necessarily make it the better car.
That all I'm meaning.

Ok, Leadfoot, I get your point.
Anyway, will this new Corvette beat the new GT3RS on the track? The AMG S65 on the Autobahn? I would guess yes!
Will it be one of the fastes ever and most complete car under 100k?!
A stock C6 Z06 1/4's 11.6 @127mhp. This new vette is gonna be a monster.
The answer I would reckon is yes it will. When the more powerful Koenigsegg CXX can go around the Top Gear track faster than anything else and yet hasn't anywhere near as well a sorted chassis as the Carerra GT or the Enzo, then the answer has to be yes. The vette's chassis is already not far off the GT3RS's chassis with regards to handling, so if it get another great big dollop of power then it will near enough match it in the corners and destroy it down the straights.
Will it beat an AMG S65 on the Autobahn, yeah but what about a Brabus?
Search and you will find the truth.
Im not surprised it's so fast around the track, it's got aluminium-spaceframe !!
(aluminium bars instead of steal as the conventional c6), the car-floor is made of balsa-wood and carbonfiber and the roof is made of magnesium... pretty light materials..!
Just one Q, what Chevy is going to built after this?
for 100K?
scary.
those rear tires and that rear suspension had better be designed by a gifted engineer from MIT........... anything this side of an enzo or carrera or pro-dragster would have trouble applying that power and torque.
forget about driving it to work or anything resembling real roads.
i just don't see how they would be able to design it so it could.
i just don't.
nonetheless...kudos to the general for trying. it'll be good for bragging rights, that's for sure. i'm just not sure which ones. or if they'll matter anywhere outside of a trailer park.
oops. did i just say that?
