The 996 Turbo was a quick car out of the box even without PDK. Porsche remained rather conservative about their figures untill the GTR came along.

Veyron costs aside we need to remember this engine is derived from the Gallardo originally, I assume the gearbox and drivetrain is similar - twin turbo Gallardos are pushing 1000-1500hp already

These results don't surprise me.

Porsche have always been conservative with their power outputs and they do make sure you get what your paying for, unlike many other manufacturers.

Think of it as the original GTI but with the 'R' name!

Wonder when VW are going to focus more on losing weight on the sportier Golfs? Would seriously be interested in the over priced Golfs then....

Rolling start? Straight line drag? doesn't prove much unfortunately, other than one is geared better than the other for acceleration and/or top speed.

The Golf R does look good, but expensive for what it is for sure!
