Jumpered the 12v into the fan with no signal input, fan spooled up after 10 seconds or so. Bad fan controller I'm guessing. P/N 4B3959455F or E. $950 from the dealer. Anyone have a used one they...

Thanks for the thread. My car has had several instances of "just dying" (no lights, no crank, and ECU reset) while the wife was driving it and I think this is probably the problem.
