01. ADT Champion Racing

For two years, team ADT Champion Racing with its customer R8 has been one of the toughest opponents of the Audi works team in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). As Audi is refraining from a works effort this season and Champion Racing is competing at the same conditions as the team led by Reinhold Joest, the team from Florida will now have a go at the title in the ALMS. "Last year, Champion Racing was the best-placed privateer team in the ALMS. In 2003, we have a fair chance of winning the championship," says team principal Dave Maraj. Moreover, Champion Racing will be participating in the Le Mans 24 Hour race for the second time after 2001, while also defending the title in the GT category of the SPEED World Challenge with two newly developed Audi RS6 cars.
Founded by Dave Maraj in 1994, Champion Racing has quickly made a name for itself in sportscar racing in American motorsport. Champion has been relying on the Audi R8 in the ALMS since 2001.
Champion Racing is just a part of Dave Maraj’s car emporium in Florida. Champion is one of the biggest and most important Audi dealers in the south east of the USA. The competition department Champion Racing is one of the most up-to-date outfits in America. Audi works-driver Emanuele Pirro, who will be racing for the American team at Sebring and Le Mans, was impressed after his first visit in Pompano Beach: "Now I know why Champion Racing has been such a tough opponent for the works team in recent years."

02. Audi Sport Japan Tem Goh

In Japan, the status of the Le Mans 24 Hours is huge. In Asia, the race has been broadcast live on television for many years and in Japan, Le Mans winners are being considered heroes. So with good reason, the Japanese Audi importer is entering its own team for Le Mans.
Audi Japan has chosen the team Goh International as a partner. The team was founded in 1996, won the team classification in the Japanese GT Championship right away and has five starts at Le Mans to its tally - last year for the first time with the Audi R8. In spite of an accident in practice and a range of setbacks during the race, the Japanese team brought the R8 home in seventh place. "This was a great success for our team," team owner Kazumichi Goh says. "I have really enjoyed our debut with Audi at Le Mans. In spite of the troubles, we never gave up. The Japanese life philosophy ‘Daruma’ says: when you have problems seven times, you stand up again eight times..."
In 2003, the Audi Sport Japan Team Goh will be racing at Le Mans again, with the goal of significantly improving on last year’s result. Japanese Sheiji Ara already was part of Goh’s line-up in 2002. "Crossing the finish line alongside the three winning Audi drivers was a great feeling," he reveals.
With Dane Jan Magnussen and German Marco Werner, Ara is getting two new team mates who will be completing an intensive test programme with the Goh team in the build-up to Le Mans.

03. Audi Sport UK

The British Audi importer, the 1996 British touring car champion under the banner of "Audi Sport UK" with an Audi A4, has unfinished business at the Le Mans 24 Hours. In 1999, the Audi Sport UK team ran the two enclosed Audi R8C Coupés at Le Mans. The ultra-flat sportscars caught a lot of attention, but lacked development.
In 2003, Audi Sport UK will have another go at Le Mans, but with better conditions: the Audi R8 is the car to beat. For its campaign, Audi Sport UK has chosen a team that is quite familiar with the sportscar from Ingolstadt: in 2001, British team Arena Motorsport ran Stefan Johansson’s car in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), at Le Mans and in selected rounds of the ALMS. Winning the title in the ELMS and second place at the "Petit Le Mans" have been on Arena Motorsport’s record since.
At an international level, the team from Littlehampton is still relatively unknown. But with Mike Earle, Arena has a seasoned team principal, who has 30 years of experience in motorsport. His Onyx team made it all the way up to Formula 1. In recent years, Arena Motorsport has become established in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
In preparation for the participation at Le Mans with Frank Biela, Perry McCarthy and Mika Salo, Audi Sport UK will be competing in the Sebring 12 Hour race.
