    Recoding Locking Control Module

Recoding the RS6 locking control module. Full write up at:
    hypertension-motorsports

I exchanged my UNI-COM, which did not fully work on the C5 platform, for a Hex-USB VAG tool. Really good purchase in my opinion.

I enjoy the fact that once I unlock the car using the remote, I am able to unlock all four doors. I also enjoy that I am able to open or close all car windows using the remote.

If you like this kind of functionality, then recoding the locking control module is for you.

I have only tried the recoding on a 2003 Audi RS6, which comes with the Symphony radio. Please note that
Audi of America (AoA) does not officially recognize the existence of this feature as of this posting. Although many dealers know this feature exist, most are unwilling to assist you in the recoding.
This modification can be done using Ross-Tech's VAG tool. If you don't have one handy, you might be able to find another Audi enthusiast that is willing to help you using the VAG Tool Locator.

    Warnings:
1: Vehicle should be turned off and in 'Park'.
2: Please read instructions fully before attempting modification.
3: I assume no liability or responsibility for any damages that may arise either directly or
indirectly as a result of the application of the information provided herein.
4: Codes tested on US bound RS6 only.

    Using VAG tool instructions

Step 1: Open VAG tool main screen as shown on figure 1 below. Click the 'Select' button from the
    'Select Control Module' section.

    Fig. 1

Step 2: On the 'Select Control Module' screen as shown on figure 2 below, click the '35-Centr. Locks'
    button.

    Fig. 2

Step 3: On the 'Open Controller' screen as shown on figure 3 below, click the 'Recode - 07'
    button.

    Fig. 3

Step 4: On the 'Recode Module' screen as shown on figure 4 below, take note of the default software
coding value set on your car. In case the change doesn't work, we can safely revert to our old settings.

    Fig. 4

Step 5: On the 'Recode Module' screen as shown on figure 5 below, change the 'Sofware Coding'
value to match the one you wish to use from the table above. Once that is done, click the 'Do It!' button to
    persist the new settings.

    Fig. 5

Run a test to make sure the change took place. If the test is not successful, unlock the car using the key on the door
instead of using the remote. Change the settings back to default if you wish.

    Been There, Done That

That was the first thing I did when I got my RS6.....

Used the Vag-Com software with older uni-com connection without any problem....

I have never however been able to access the module to turn the fog lights on without the low beams being on. Perhaps the newer Hex-USB will allow this????

I tried this mod with my UNI-COM and it would never set it. Alwasy defaulted to the stock setting. Tried with the HEX-USB, and it worked. Not sure why.

As for the fog light mod using VAG it does not work. Even HEX-USB can't seem to get into control module '9 - Cent. Elect'.
I believe this has to be done the old fashion way like on the S4. Messing around with the light module or something else.

How does the window control work?

How does the window control work? I.e. what do you do to roll-up or roll-down windows from the remote?

    thanks.

Hold Lock button on remote all windows and /or sunroof close...

Hold Unlock button on remote all windows (but not the sunroof) open...

Also same coding lets you unlock all four doors with one click....

Oh also, turn of beep on alarm....just let the lights flash and you can hear the locks locking anyway so the beep just wakes up people and makes heads turn toward your car.

nene, I just did the window mod with my new HEX-USB VAG tool and it worked great! Any other mods you can suggest?
