R.I.P. Vintage Porsche Speedsters

This weekend, at a vintage Porsche show in Ventura, CA, a group of Speedsters and a couple of other Porsches were loaded onto a transporter for the trip home to Costa Mesa, CA. The driver attempted to cross a railroad track, high-centered the trailer, and the rest, as they say, is history. Nobody was (physically) injured, thankfully. Pics are from Wayne at Pelican Parts.

i see all of this stupid truck driver stuff have any of you ever driven a car hauler before well i do they are low to the ground can get caught on just about anything you figure you only have about 3 inches of clearance from the ground and you can get caught on railroad tracks if the crossing is not wide enough or is to much of a grade each way it is horrible that these things happen i am a car buff myself but they do happen i dont know any carhaulers that have done it for awhile and not got stuck on something we have postings in our office about certain dealers that you have to watch going in and out of or you will get stuck these trucks are low to the ground long and high centered so please before you post a reply like stupid truck driver look at all the aspects of the accident first because most accidents involving trucks are not the trucks fault look at dot's numbers on this and dont judge something you dont know anything about because if you where driving the truck the same thing would have happened to you in that situation

you cannot remove all blaim from the truckdriver just because its hard to drive a carhauler...

when you're driving with 40 trillion dollars or whatnot worth of vintage irreplaceable Porsches, you have to be a tad more on the careful side...

someone has to pay for this in the legal sence. its not the owners of the porsches. its the truck company and who are they going to blaim? the driver of course. its the logical cast of blaim...

by the way... that was the longest sentence i've ever seen... hehe

i didnt say the company shouldnt have to pay because they should and yes the driver will be held responsable but these things happen no matter how carefull you are you figure most truck drivers log @ 100,000 miles a year accidents are bound to happen no matter how safe you are but you also have to put in all the factors was the driver given directions by someone in the club was this the only route he could have taken to and from his location you know other roads could have had truck restrictions low bridges etc. the term stupid truck driver is rediculous because noone knows the true situation but the driver you have to factor in the situation most people think truck drivers are dirty ignorant rednecks but most are not i am a truck driver hauling cars for a living i have college (law school) and have seved in the military but i make more money driving a car hauler than being a lawyer and enjoy my job i know truck drivers with doctors degrees and so on figure in all the factors before you judge saying stupid truck driver i think it is stupid to have a car you wont drive (trailer queens) if you want to waste money on something you cant enjoy for what it is ment to do then there are plenty of poor people that could use the money having a garage ornament is a stupid idea if you ask me but anyways think of all the factors of the situation before you judge a situation

i think this sentence was longer but oh well this aint english class is it
