A few have heard about this car. Nobody has seen it:

Actually not, because I talked to people who built those cars. I can't say more......

I can also tell you Pike's Peak had the body of this Sport Quattro S2.

I take it that it was MTM France who built these cars. Please tell me more, like what sort of awd system did it use, Quattro?.

Why did it not make it any farther than the prototype stage?

When you think about it, this was the father of the R8.:bow:

Absolutely not. MTM france is a few years old. So no chance.

But I can tell you all the engineering was reuse in the Audi Avus, which was the first official mid rear engine Audi car.

God, I remember that grainy photo appeared in an edition of Cars and Car conversions in about '85 or '86.
Allegedly that was Audis car for the 'mystical' Group S category that was supposed to be even more nuts than Group B. Talk of cars with nigh on 1000hp.
Of course Group B was finally culled in the unfortunate events of Portugal in 1986 and took any hope of Group S with it.

Mind you it was all conjecture and hearsay even back then, so who knows what would have really happened.
