2006 Le Mans Entry List

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 2006 24 Hours of Le Mans entry list has been announced. There will be 50 racecars competing for endurance glory. There are quite a few surprises though.
There is no Porsche RS Spyder in the LMP2 class and interestingly there will be no Leblanc Mirabeau even after the manufacturer promised that they would be racing their street-legal prototype sports car in Le Mans. It's a shame that there are no factory entries in the LMP1 class other than the Audi R10s. But expect things to get a lot spicier in 2007 when PEUGEOT enters their own diesel prototype in the LMP1 class in Le Mans

Few might be wondering why there is no Maserati MC12 in GT1 class. Its since the ACO doesn't allow it to race

There is no Porsche RS Spyder in the LMP2 class...

What?!? That is unbelievable! They make the car specifically for Le Mans and then they don't even show??? Wow, Porsche must really be having teething troubles with the car to be a no show for the most important race of the year!

Also, why in the world is Audi only showing up with 2 cars (same as Sebring)??? If something happens again to one of the cars, everything is on the one car to get it done! That's a lot of pressure when there is 12 total cars in your class! I'd think they'd at least field 3 cars!

That Porsche RS Spyder performed good so far in US Le Mans series, why they don't go to ''real'' one?

I've read that the RS Spyder's only priority is that he wins the ALMS in the LMP2 category. That's the target for this year. Maybe they're next year at LeMans.

I heard that Porsche is very upset against ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest). Remeber the V10 engine from the Carrera GT was supposed to race at Le Mans....

Oreca has also decided not to come this year with the Saleens.....

Cheers from Paris,
Frederic
