If Audi ever gets tired of winning LeMans this is the chance to enter F1. Or Porsche?

LONDON, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Ford said on Friday its Jaguar Formula One team would pull out of the sport at the end of the 2004 season and its Cosworth engine company was also up for sale.
"After a thorough review over many months, Ford Motor Company has decided it can no longer make a compelling business case for any of its brand to compete in Formula One," Joe Greenwell, chairman of Jaguar and Land Rover, said in a statement.
"We are putting our Formula One businesses up for sale," he said.
Ford vice-president Richard Parry-Jones, the man in overall charge of the Formula One operations, said there were a number of parties interested in buying the Jaguar team.
But he could not guarantee a sale would go ahead.
"If it does not, we would be forced to face a closure scenario but we're not thinking about that at the moment," he said.
Cosworth supply struggling Jordan and Minardi and the loss of those engines could hit the two smallest, privately-entered teams hard.
Jaguar entered Formula One in 2000 after Ford took over the Stewart team founded by three-times world champion Jackie Stewart in 1997.
They have had a turbulent four seasons, yet to win a grand prix and going through numerous changes of leadership since Stewart stood down as the first team principal before the start of the 2000 season.

Very sad to hear. Jackie shouldn't have stopped. He had more success than the team now.

My sentiments exactly, but maybe it's a sign for Bernie and his cronies to actually start lowering the OTT prices to compete, share some of more of the revenue that the sports brings in and re-structure the sport so it's more competitive.

I've switched completely off the sport this year. I'm only looking out for next years line-up, etc... Mclaren and Montoya = good things to come. :D

Ferrari cant and wont remain the leaders of the sport for much longer...remember how long it took the Scuderia Ferrari to actually start winning, with such dominance? And Remember Mclaren in '98 and '99...?

Porsche wont compete in F1 due to the costs involved, if it did it wont become one of the most profitable car companies going and the share holders wont be least impressed with that. Besides Porsche is alot more into making their road cars winners, not a continuous prototype development car, then putting the knock off F1 gear change systems into their road cars, then advertising the F1 connection between the two. ;)

VAG should go for it, when the current top man at VAG (Pierch?) came to the VAG he found a devlopment of a F1 engine fully functional to be within the company's assets.

Problem is, both Jaguar and VW are loosing collosal amounts of money on their road car departments.
