As the title states on this one this was one pretty trashed Bentley, for the most part I wasn't expecting anything this bad. The customer wanted it fixed and didn't really mind how long it took or how much. Again we couldn't believe how bad it was, until we saw it in the direct sunlight.

We did the normal prep work, wash, wheels, clay, etc. For the paint correction we enrolled Menzerna Power Gloss Compound with an Uber Yellow Pad, followed by Menzerna Super Intensive Polish with an Uber Green Pad, finally we finished with my favorite Menzerna PO85RD. As a last step we gave it a coat of Swissvax Divine. Enjoy!

Dumb question, but...what exactly produces these micro-scratches and the otherwise imperfect paint?

Dumb question, but...what exactly produces these micro-scratches and the otherwise imperfect paint? In a word: dirt.

Using anything dirty on the car, be it: a wash pad, a towel, a glove.. also any scratchy fabric, like an old, poor quality towel - basically, anything that is used/wiped on the car for whatever reason that isn't clean. Swirls, for example, are caused by repeated circular motions on the car's paint surface with any of the aforementioned... those big curtains you drive through at the quick car wash places - avoid at any cost. Even wiping your finger on a car (to write something on a dirty surface, for example), will scratch.

The imperfections you see are basically cuts into the top layers of clear coat. What Phil's (or any good) paint correction does (specifically the polishers) is grind down enough layers of coat to remove the scratches. You don't want it to happen too often since you'll eventually run out of clear coat (and your paint's protection), but it's fine to do at least a couple of times (Phil measures the depth of the paint to make sure it's safe, there's a tool for that). When the coat's surface is perfectly flat, cleaned and waxed, as the above Bentley's is after the process, you get that sort of reflection (read: beautiful).

Pretty sure Phil can fill in on whatever I left out. I've bought quite a few products from them, great guys.
