At the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, Audi driver Oliver Jarvis clocked the first fastest lap time of the second official DTM test - just as he had done two weeks ago at Dijon-Prenois. There, the Briton also set the quickest lap time of the first morning session, with his Audi A4 DTM. Now, at the Hockenheimring’s 4.574-kilometre Grand Prix circuit that also will be the venue of the 2009 DTM season kick-off, Jarvis was 0.848 seconds faster than his second-placed team-mate, Markus Winkelhock. The top-three were completed by Scotland’s Mercedes-Benz driver Susie Stoddart who was 0.988 seconds slower than Jarvis.

Only the top-three of the nine drivers testing on Monday morning succeeded in clocking a lap time within the same second. The ‘best of the rest’ was Maro Engel who completed a total of 45 laps, at the wheel of his AMG Mercedes C-Class, and had to cope with an interval of 1.018 seconds. Behind Engel, reigning champion Timo Scheider (+1.510 seconds) finished fifth on the time sheets, thus proving to be the fastest of a quartet of 2009-spec car drivers. Behind the Audi ace, fellow Audi driver Kristensen and the Mercedes-Benz pairing Gary Paffett and Ralf Schumacher finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively. Consequently, Christian Bakkerud who drove the Audi A4 DTM entered by Kolles Futurecom-TME, had to settle for finishing ninth.

On the first day of the tests held at Dijon-Prenois in the week following the Easter weekend, Jarvis succeeded in defending his top position on the time sheets in the afternoon session. Now you will have to wait and see if he will be able to repeat this feat today. On his fastest lap at the wheel of his 2008-spec Audi A4 DTM, he was 0.304 seconds faster than the fastest race lap set by Paul di Resta (Mercedes-Benz) during the course of the 2009 season finale. The busiest driver of the morning session was Susie Stoddart who completed 52 laps, representing a total mileage of 237.848 kilometres.

In the morning session of the second day of testing at the Hockenheimring, held in wet conditions, Mike Rockenfeller clocked the fastest lap time. While the Mercedes-Benz works drivers had been second to none in changeable conditions at Dijon-Prenois, the 25-year old Audi works driver set the pace on the wet Hockenheimring. With a best time of 1:51.039 minutes, Rocky was 0.487 seconds faster than his second-placed fellow Audi driver Martin Tomczyk. And the following positions on the time sheets also were secured by drivers representing the Audi colours: at the wheel of the Audi test car, Tom Kristensen set the third fastest time, with Alexandre Prémat and Mattias Ekström finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Behind the five Audi drivers, the group auf Mercedes-Benz aces secured the positions six to nine, with Gary Paffett being the fastest of them. At the wheel of his AMG Mercedes C-Class, the Briton was 1.347 seconds slower than Rockenfeller but less than a second faster than Susie Stoddart, Maro Engel and Ralf Schumacher. The biggest mileage of the morning session was covered by the Audi test car: Tom Kristensen completed 62 laps on the Hockenheimring’s 4.574-kilometre Grand Prix circuit, representing a total mileage of 283.588 kilometres.
