Congrats on the acquisition. I have no idea about champagne though.

As long as you French keep making it, I don't mind consuming it for you. :love2:

NICE Erik. it is ready to be drunk. but you could keep it another 5-6 yrs too. longer than that i would not recommend.

maybe you should open it the day i fly over from the US for my long awaited visit to sweden.....

I do not have Rose, only "standard" 93', 95' and 97'. After purchasing, found the taste not all it is cracked up to be. Hopefully the Rose will be much better. But of course out my way we do have lots and lots of Cabernets. :D

benman. if memory serves correctly, the 1992 and 1996 vintages were worthy of tru dom. all others in the 90's (excpet maaaaaaaybe 1999) were kind of substandard for dom (yet better than most regular bubblies). with age they may improve. that being said, dom is in the moderately dry of the champagne styles. bollinger grand annee even drier (but better imo). if you like sweeter tastes i recommend you try moet imperial nectar rose- pretty inexpensive at about $60 a bottle or go for any vueve clicquot grand dame vintage or LP grand ciecle NV. the latter is a very lovable hit anywhere- it has moderate cost ~100 or less and is on the sweeter end.

nicolas feuillatte is another boutique type of "sweeter" champagne, and its higher range palm d'or bottle is like dom only a bit sweeter.

benman...

;)

RXBG, thanks for that. Yes, I really didn't want to use harsher words... :D

So I'll try those recommendations, $60 a bottle for fine champagne is not bad at all.

I will admit that my tastes lean more to wines (Cabs, Merlots, and Chards being my favorites). I'll give Dom the benefit of the doubt and take it I just got "bad" years... but it didn't quite suit me and was way too dry. Hell, the local wineries have "almond" champagne and it spanks the Dom I have sampled so far (again, just for my tastes).

As a friend once said when they also sample the "regular" non Rose 95', "after opening it, we disliked it so much, we used the rest of the bottle to make mimosas"!!! LOL! Expensive mimosas! :D

Best,

well, wine is a whole different thing. that is for sure.

best pinot- or burgundy- i ever had was "les plateaux" nuits de st. georges

best cab (and co.)- or bordeaux- i ever had was, what else, chateau margaux margaux 1986

uncommon experiences for someone who otherwise spends his money on cars ;p

For sure. Next time you're out this way, (the offer is good for all), we'll go to all the vineyards and wineries down the street from my home. Temecula has an excellent selection of wines of all varieties. Been trying to get gjg out this way, so he should be able to vouch for them soon enough. :thumb:
