I can confirm that Audi have an Auto box for all the A5's but do not have a DSG yet for the S5.

Dealer isn't sure when they will allow customer to spec it, but it shouldn't be too long.

I guess that ends speculation that Audi waited till they had a DSG S5 for the US market. There aint one yet !

I can suplement your info with something, if people don't already know it.
All of the following engines/transmissions will be in the line-up, in a short while:

engine power transmission drive:

1.8TFSI 170hp M6 front
1.8TFSI 170hp Multitronic front

2.0TFSI 211hp M6 front
2.0TFSI 211hp Multitronic front
2.0TFSI 211hp M6 Quattro
2.0TFSI 211hp S-tronic Quattro

3.2 FSI 265hp Multitronic Front
3.2 FSI 265hp M6 Quattro

4.2FSI 354hp M6 Quattro
4.2FSI 354hp Tiptronic Quattro

2.0TDI 170hp M6 Front
2.0TDI 170hp M6 Quattro

2.7TDI 170hp M6 Front
2.7TDI 170hp Multitronic Front

3.0TDI 240hp M6 Quattro
3.0TDI 240hp Tiptronic Quattro

Regards.

EDIT: Audi havent given me a lot about the performance on the 1.8TFSI, 2.0TFSI and 2.0TDI. Can anyone help me with 0-60mph times, top speed etc. ?

4.2FSI 354hp Tiptronic Quattro

You think that it will be Tiptronic on S5? I thought S-tronic (DSG)

This is not what i think. This is what Audi has confirmed.

Forgot to bring the paper where the dates are on. As far as i remember it will come in february - at least here in Denmark.

2.0TDI 170hp M6 Front
2.0TDI 170hp M6 Quattro

2.7TDI 170hp M6 Front
2.7TDI 170hp Multitronic Front

And two diffrent engines with the same HP? Could not be so.
Interesting will the same engines gonna be on A4 B8?
And what engine will be on S4.

Not wanting to start an argument but some of this line up sounds silly.

2.0TFSI 211hp S-tronic Quattro but not S-Tronic for the rest. For starters the S-Tronic will be developed for the whole range and not just the 2.0TFSi.

As i said this is not just something i am making up. This is official in Denmark, and Audi Denmark has just got the pricing approved by the price-commision at Audi AG.

Not tell me why, would a 1.8TFSI and a 2.0TDI with both 170hp be stupid ?.

Regarding the S-tronic, maybe it will come to other engines later? i don't know. This is just what i Audi confirmed to me.

Regards.

To the best of my knowledge the only engines confirmed for certain in the A5 are as follows

1.8TFSi, 3.2FSi, 2.7TDi, 3.0TDi and the 4.2FSi. I don't doubt other engines will follow and all the above petrol engines sound correct to me but it's the diesel range I have a problem with, why two diesels both producing the same power, this doesn't make any since to me.

The only gearboxes for sure are the manual 6sp, the Multi-tronic and the Tip-tronic. We all know that they is a 7sp DSG coming but as yet no date and if it's going into one at the start, chances are it will be in all of them from the start as there is no point developing a gearbox to cope with less than the most powerful application. So I doubt we will see the DSG until it is able to cope with what the S5 has at the very least.

Do you have some additional info about 7sp DSG? Like when approximetly (end 2007 - mid 2008? or later?) And some tech info?

Like most here, I know very little about how this system and design differs from the one currently used in the A3 and TT. I think if you read up on the TT/Club Sport concept, it uses an improved version of the DSG currently in the TT so I reckon it's design and operation will be closest to that of the one due to be offered in the A5, A4 and above.

As for a date, much expectation has been placed on the Q5 being the first Audi to be introduced with the new gearbox, well at least in concept form so I doubt we will see the DSG in the A5 before third quarter of 2008. But as I said I doubt one model in the range will get the system solely to start with, Audi will want to stay competitive with BMW who are due to offer their own version of DSG early next year in the M3 with a range wide launch of this shortly afterwards. We do know that this system to be used by BMW is more advanced than currently used in the A3 etc., so we can expect Audi's new 7sp DSG to at least be it's equal.
